Friday marks a significant deadline in Ireland's immigration system as the EU Migration and Asylum Pact comes into effect here. The Government says the pact will create a more efficient and consistent asylum process across Europe, speed up decisions, improve returns procedures and strengthen cooperation between EU member states.
