    31:52|
Hey Pals,This episode of the podcast focuses on talking about different tv shows, the good and bad! Towards the end of the podcast, I also show you how to use ChatGPT to learn how to talk about tv shows in a deeper way! Here are some ways we talk about tv shows in English:Go downhill (fast/quickly/rapidly/suddenly)That tv show went quickly downhill after the first season.Become predictable The Blacklist was incredibly predictable, no surprises in that one after a while. To fizzle out/to peter outThat show was very good for three seasons, but then it began to fizzle out and gradually became less and less good or even popular. Talk about writers/writingThe writers gave upThe writing was fantasticThe writers woke up and decided to smoke crackTo milkThey milked that story for way too long! That show should have ended years ago.Talk about the different seasonsThat show should have ended three seasons agoThat show went on X seasons too many.Great (first/second/third/etc.) seasonA cult classic A cult classic movie is a movie that gains a dedicated and passionate fanbase over time, despite not necessarily being a mainstream success upon its initial release. Binge-worthyThat show is binge-worthy, you won’t regret it. Tug at your heartstringsScrubs is a fantastic comedy show that also pulls at your heartstrings.A guilty pleasureMy guilty pleasure was Grays Anatomy, don’t tell anyone. 29:40|
Good morning you beautiful English learners, my name is Ronan and my plan is to:Empower you to speak EnglishBoost your confidence when speakingHelp you understand high level, natural, fluent EnglishI am so excited to share this podcast with you because it's the first of a long journey I am embarking on. Basically, let me introduce you to the The Chats! What is The Chats? This is my way of really helping advanced English learners have motivation, structure, and guidance when learning or practicing English. In fact, I see myself more of a facilitator of learning rather than a teacher in this case. How does it work?We get together every two weeks and have The Chats about a topic. Next week, we are talking about a Ted Talk Why Rivers and Lakes Should Have the Same Rights as Humans. We hop on Zoom, we shoot the breeze, I send notes, we all learn something and probably laugh. Our conversations meander from one topic to another and rarely stay on course, but the one thing they are guaranteed to do, help you perfect your perfect English! How do I join?Hit the link in the description, click here, or at the very least just download the workbook for this podcast and enjoy!Anyways, i am going to prepare some cool materials to help you learn English.Chat soon,Ronan
  • 123. I gave him the benefit of the doubt

    11:41|
Hey! Last week I told you about the incident with my landlord and turning off the water mid shower, I was not one bit happy. Anyway, I went and spoke to my landlord about this issue and he explained how it was out of his control. Rather than kicking up a fuss, I gave him the benefit of the doubt....And that is what inspired this podcast about the beautiful idiom: To give the benefit of the doubt.Sit back, relax, listen and learn my friends!  My LinksCheck out my website: www.littlesealenglish.com Make a podcast request: www.littlesealenglish.com/requests Check out my Instagram: www.instagram.com/littlesealenglishTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@littlesealenglish YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHM_qxcgv8CRGl88tIvfShA

  • 121. The Oblivious Man

    49:07|
Good morning you beautiful Little Seals,This very short, unplanned, off the cuff, impromptu podcast was inspired by a run in I had yesterday with a very sharp detective. Okay, so the first 20 or so minutes is random, after that I start to teach vocabulary. Basically, this story is broke into two parts, the first part is the story and the second part is the vocabulary. Some Key EnglishObliviousCluelessIn my own worldJust because I am…., does not mean…BlindersGet the picture/messageI had no interest in…Wake up and decide to…Rub the wrong wayA short answerNo shit SherlockAgenda (have an agenda)BibleBible-basherNow, I’m off to catch the bus and read my book hopefully in peace!Later,Ronan
  • 120. The Combination of Fireworks, Teenagers, and School

    35:07|
First, download my ebook https://littlesealenglish.com/4stepstofluency This is a mostly unplanned podcast about one my memories from school. Questions for you, what is the result when you mix fireworks, teenagers, and school? Well listen to this podcast and you’ll find out!  Long story short, in Ireland fireworks are illegal. In Northern Ireland, fireworks are legal. When it was Halloween, a bunch of people from Ireland would drive to Northern Ireland to buy fireworks. They would hide them in the car and drive home across the country. The thing is, if the police caught you with fireworks, they would usually just take them themselves to their own house and have fun with their family. Corruption at it’s finest.   Language ClassesBy the way, I run English language classes every two weeks. It’s very simple, you sign up and twice a month we all meet up and chat English. We usually meet on a Thursday morning (PST time). Basically, before each class I send out a bunch of conversation starters and a video or two. Then, we meet up on every other Thursday and shoot the breeze. You’re going to love it! It’s a great way to stay in touch with your English and meet some really cool people. If this is something you’d be keen on, email me at Ronan@littlesealenglish.com, I hope to hear from you! Okay, enjoy this podcast my friends, Ronan
