Ep. 136: Ways to Handle Difficult People

When it comes to dealing with difficult people, it can be tough to just “grin and bear it.” A really unpleasant person or interaction can linger in your mind, even when you’re not around them. Suppressing those interactions can start to take its toll on your mental health. Many times, like at work, we have to be around these difficult people whether we want to or not. No one looks forward to interacting with difficult people, but it doesn’t have to ruin your day, week, or workplace. While there’s often not much we can do to change their behavior, we can change our own responses and minimize how they affect us.

  • 225. I Got Hurt and I Found the Root Cause

    13:24
Expectation and trust are two powerful forces that can either uplift us or bring us crashing down. In my own experience, I have learned the hard way that placing too much faith in others and expecting too much from them can lead to disappointment and hurt. I trusted someone wholeheartedly, believing that they had my best interests at heart. I expected them to always be there for me, to support me through thick and thin. But when they let me down, it felt like a betrayal of the highest order. The pain of broken trust cut deep, leaving scars that may never fully heal. I realized then that expectations and trust must be tempered with caution and discernment. Blindly putting our faith in others without considering their true intentions can leave us vulnerable to heartache. It is important to strike a balance between hope and realism, understanding that not everyone will live up to our expectations or prove themselves worthy of our trust.Follow me on IG: Instagram (@angelydub) Follow Life in Progress on IG: Instagram (@lifeinprogressph) Follow me on Tiktok: Angely Dub's Creator Profile
  • 224. How Do I Date Nowadays?

    18:30
Dating nowadays has evolved significantly with the rise of technology and social media. Gone are the days of traditional courtship, as modern dating now involves swiping through profiles on dating apps and engaging in virtual conversations before meeting in person. While some may argue that this new way of dating lacks the personal connection and authenticity of face-to-face interactions, I believe it offers a plethora of benefits. Dating apps provide a convenient platform to meet potential partners based on shared interests and values. They also allow for more efficient communication, making it easier to get to know someone before committing to a date. Additionally, social media allows us to learn more about a person's background and personality before taking the next step. In conclusion, modern dating may be different from what our parents or grandparents experienced, but it offers unique opportunities for connection and compatibility. Embracing these changes can lead to fulfilling relationships in today's fast-paced world.Follow me on IG: Instagram (@angelydub) Follow Life in Progress on IG: Instagram (@lifeinprogressph) Follow me on Tiktok: Angely Dub's Creator Profile
  • 223. Romanticizing Your Own Life

    11:32
In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We often find ourselves longing for something more, something that seems out of reach. This is where the concept of romanticizing your own life comes into play. Romanticizing your own life means finding beauty and joy in the small moments, and appreciating the little things that make life worth living. It is about creating a sense of wonder and magic in your day-to-day experiences, turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. By romanticizing your own life, you can cultivate a sense of gratitude and contentment, finding happiness in the present moment rather than constantly chasing after some elusive ideal. It allows you to see the beauty in imperfection and embrace the uniqueness of your journey. So take a step back, slow down, and start romanticizing your own life. You may just find that the most beautiful story is the one you are living right now.Follow me on IG: Instagram (@angelydub) Follow Life in Progress on IG: Instagram (@lifeinprogressph) Follow me on Tiktok: Angely Dub's Creator Profile
  • 222. Delayed Gratification is Beautifiul

    11:41
Delayed gratification is a concept that has been praised by philosophers, psychologists, and successful individuals throughout history. It is the ability to resist the temptation of immediate rewards to achieve greater long-term goals. This virtue requires patience, self-discipline, and a strong sense of determination. The beauty of delayed gratification lies in its ability to foster personal growth and development. By delaying instant gratification, individuals can make more thoughtful decisions that lead to greater success and fulfillment in the future. It teaches us the value of hard work, perseverance, and resilience. Furthermore, delayed gratification allows us to appreciate the journey toward our goals rather than just focusing on the result. The satisfaction that comes from achieving something through hard work and dedication is far more rewarding than any instant pleasure.Follow me on IG: Instagram (@angelydub) Follow Life in Progress on IG: Instagram (@lifeinprogressph) Follow me on Tiktok: Angely Dub's Creator Profile
  • 221. Higher Education vs. Traveling

    12:08
Higher education and traveling are valuable experiences that can greatly enrich a person's life. While higher education provides structured learning and specialized knowledge in a particular field, traveling offers hands-on experience, cultural immersion, and personal growth. Higher education equips individuals with the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in their chosen career path. It provides opportunities for networking, mentorship, and access to resources that can help individuals advance professionally. On the other hand, traveling exposes individuals to new perspectives, cultures, and ways of life. It fosters independence, adaptability, and open-mindedness. Traveling allows individuals to step out of their comfort zones, challenge their beliefs, and broaden their horizons. Ultimately, both higher education and traveling have their unique benefits. While higher education may provide a more structured path toward career success, traveling offers invaluable life experiences that can shape one's personal growth and worldview. Ideally, a combination of both can lead to a well-rounded individual who is equipped with knowledge and experiences from both worlds. • 220. Forgiving is not Reconciling

    07:57
Forgiving is not reconciling. While forgiveness is an essential virtue, it does not necessarily lead to reconciliation. Forgiveness involves letting go of resentment and anger towards someone who has wronged us, freeing ourselves from negativity. However, reconciliation requires both parties to actively work towards rebuilding trust and repairing the damaged relationship. It involves open communication, understanding, and a willingness to address the underlying issues that caused the rift in the first place. Forgiving may be a step towards reconciliation, but it is not the ultimate solution; true reconciliation requires effort from all parties involved. • 219. Being Angry is Normal, Let’s Stop Demonizing it!

    08:29
Being angry is a natural human emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. However, society often demonizes anger, labeling it as negative and destructive. This perception needs to change. Anger can be a powerful motivator for change and help individuals set boundaries and stand up for themselves. It is important to recognize that anger, when expressed constructively, can lead to positive outcomes. Instead of suppressing or avoiding anger, we should embrace it as a normal part of the human experience and learn how to channel it effectively for personal growth and societal progress.Follow me on IG: Instagram (@angelydub) Follow Life in Progress on IG: Instagram (@lifeinprogressph) Follow me on Tiktok: Angely Dub's Creator Profile

    10:52
Life is simple, or so it seems. We are faced with countless choices every day - yes, no, or not now. These three words hold immense power over our lives. Saying yes opens doors to new opportunities and experiences. Saying no protects our boundaries and preserves our sanity. And saying not now allows us to delay decisions until we are ready. However, simplicity can be deceiving. Behind each choice lies a web of consequences and complexities that shape our future. So while life may appear simple on the surface, it is the careful consideration of these three words that truly defines the path we take.
