This week we are joined by special guests to talk to us about a really important topic: safer sleep. They will be talking to us about the importance of safe sleep and some of the key messages and recommendations for parents and carers to think about when planning how their babies will sleep, as well as how they can work with their little one’s early years setting to support safer sleep in the setting too.

This week we are joined by special guests for a one-off episode with an update from the Say No to Hate conference in Cornwall.

This week is Children’s Grief Awareness Week, so this week we are joined by Polly from Penhaligon’s Friends and Sally from the Educational Psychology Service to talk about how children understanding of loss changes as they develop and how we can support children who have experienced bereavement, as well as looking after ourselves as parents through grief.

Today our guests are from a variety of teams who have been working together with schools to support children and families who have English as an Additional Language. We hear more about their work and how schools and parents can support children who have English as an Additional Language.

For today’s podcast, we are joined by a Children’s Rights Officer from Cornwall Council to learn all about children’s rights and how knowing about them can help us as a parents, as well as hearing about some great projects and resources that support parents, carers, children and young people recognise and support children’s rights and have their voices heard in Cornwall.

In previous podcast episodes we have talked about how to support little ones in their language and literacy development, so this week we are joined by an Educational Psychologist to talk all about early maths development and how parents and carers can support their little one learning about numbers, shapes and patterns. 

On Friday 10th October, for World Mental Health Day, the National Literacy Trust are encouraging everyone to ‘Take 10 to Read’. Today, we are joined by Jo from the National Literacy Trust in Cornwall to tell us more about the campaign and to inspire us all the take 10 to read and boost our own wellbeing.

In the summer we were joined on a previous podcast by Kate from Headstart Kernow who gave us an overview of what Headstart Kernow offers, but there was so much more we could have talked about. So, this week we are joined by Ness and Claire to tell us more about Headstart Kernow and what they offer to families.
