  • 12. World Alzheimer's Month with Tess Cheng

    34:54||Season 2, Ep. 12
    World Alzheimer's Month is the international campaign from Alzheimer's Disease International that takes place every September. Today, I speak to Tess Cheng who is a certified health and wellness coach and who has a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University; about how brain health and lifestyle choices could potentially have a drastic effect on delaying the signs of Alzheimer's and, up for discussion, potentially even preventing it. We will discuss how people can consider their brain more when trying to eat healthily, sleep better and exercise to help reduce the risk of cognitive decline as we age.I think this is a really important discussion because Alzheimer's diseases is a debilitating condition with no cure currently. This podcast episode will hopefully inspire and help people live a healthier lifestyle not only for their bodies but for their brain health too. For more info on Tess, go to: www.glowithtess.com

    37:50||Season 2, Ep. 9
    World Meditation Day was on the 21st May 2024 and today I sit down with Paige from Blissful Meditation to honor this day. Meditation seems to come with a lot of negative connotations, today’s busy life culture could deem it a waste of time or only for yogie types. But in actual fact the benefits of stillness and sitting with your own thoughts are on another level including lowering blood pressure, promoting better sleep, helping with anxiety and the all important manifesting tool! Paige talks about how and when to do it, and even takes us through a guided meditation at the end. It really is a special episode. We hope you enjoy listening. In this months episode, we are raising awareness of World CBT day (cognitive behavioural therapy) which also ties in with World Health Day (on April 7th), demonstrating us how important CBT is today's modern world. My guest Katherine Drew has over 15 years experience of working in the field of mental health and is now a CBT therapist working for the NHS and running her own private practice. If you are interested in mental health and how the mind works, Kat is the perfect and most knowledgeable guest. We have a very interesting discussion around CBT, and have planned to simplify and educate all things surrounding cognitive behaviour therapy in a way which will hopefully help others understand it, and also access it if needed.
