What does being Christian even mean anyway? Who gets to decide what a Christian is? That's what we discuss in this episode and how we've evolved in our understanding of how the label "Christian" feels to us. We talk about evangelicalism, Jesus, deconstruction, Christian nationalism, and how we understand our ever-changing spirituality these days. In short, it's complicated. We break down some of our most "precious illusions" (thanks, Alanis Morissette) about finding "the one," tying the knot, and having a "successful" marriage. We discuss the conveyor belt narratives that leave so many of us miserable, dissatisfied, and lost in the relationships we are told will fulfill us completely.

Welcome to our seventh year of recording Kindreds! This year we are tackling some taboo topics that until now we were a little too fearful to talk about on the show at the length. This episode we start a conversation about sex and sexuality with a focus on what we learned at church, school, and in the culture as young people and how we're unlearning and re-educating ourselves about sex and sexuality in our 30s.
