In this session, Rinpoche continues from the last session to explain what type of relationship we need to have with a guru in Vajrayana. He gives a modern take on how we can evaluate a teacher.

In this session, Rinpoche takes a modern approach to understand our relationship with the Guru. What type of relationship do we need to have with the Guru in Vajrayana to benefit the most from the teachings? In order to understand this, he looks at what qualities we need in our samsaric relationships for them to flourish. From there he begins to explore the guru-disciple relationship. This is part 1 of 2 teachings on this relationship.

In part three of this series, Khentrul Rinpoche examines how to go beyond our limited samsaric view to establish a deeper understanding of love and compassion. From the Four Noble Truths of the Theravadan tradition, and the Mahayana practice of the Six Perfections, to the very essence of Vajrayana’s Kalachakra, Rinpoche demonstrates how the union of love and compassion is the essence of everything and the ultimate accomplishment.

In part two of this series, Khentrul Rinpoche encourages us to reflect on life rather than simply following others and samsaric values. By then applying and stabilising knowledge of the Dharma to go beyond custom and culture, we develop greater awareness. When this awareness is accompanied by mindfulness and vigilance, we can bring balance to our negativities, transforming them into beneficial qualities, eliminating our weaknesses and building our strengths.
