Season 2, Ep. 3

On this week’s episode, Jaylyn talks addiction, recovery and sobriety with no one other than @dedeepfeifferofficial!

Dedee Pfeiffer grew up in Midway City, in Orange County, California, as the daughter of a heating and air-conditioning contractor and a homemaker. She got her big break in Hollywood playing a $10 hooker in the 1985 John Landis movie 'Into the Night.' She followed that up by starring in the 1986 horror comedy 'Vamp,' playing a waitress fending off vampires while reconnecting with a childhood friend. Dedee went on to star opposite George Clooney in the film 'Red Surf,' Keanu Reeves in the movie 'Tune In Tomorrow' and Cybill Shepherd in the television comedy 'Cybill,' which won three Emmy Awards with Dedee in the role of Cybill's daughter. Dedee has also produced movies, winning multiple awards for her short films 'The Tub' and 'Laredo.' She currently stars in the ABC drama 'Big Sky' as Denise Brisbane, a quick-witted and kind of gossipy assistant at a private detective agency in Montana. The role is a return to acting for Dedee, after she spent 10 years away from Hollywood to earn a master's degree in social work from UCLA. Dedee has raised two boys as a single-mother, balancing her acting, academics and everything in between. So sit back, pour up a glass of wine and relax! Cheers!

  • 5. Knock, Knock...Y'all There?

    36:23
We are back with a bang! On this week’s episode Jaylyn talks all things mental health and recovery with no one other than Anthony Barnes, MSW...I started my professional career in health and fitness where I managed a big brand gym for about five years. I fell in love with fitness and even became a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I continue to have a love for exercise because it just makes me feel good inside and out. Plus, I'm just a lot nicer to my husband after I've had a bit of a sweat. ;)I decided to pursue a career as a therapist after choosing to get sober in 2012. My life fell apart, but with the help of friends, family and professionals, I got better. I was humbled and inspired by those that cared for me, and decided, "Hey, I want to do that!"I went back to school and earned a Master's Degree in Social Work. I also obtained a certificate from UCLA Extension in Substance Abuse Counseling. Since then, I've worked with children and families, severely mentally ill people, LGBTQ+ youth and adults, and those dealing with grief and substance use.Follow Anthony on Youtube at The Sugar Treatmenthttps://www.youtube.com/@TheSugarTreatmentSocial MediaFollow Us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keepingitrealwithjaylynSong of the WeekKeep Your Head Up-2Pachttps://youtu.be/fAJfDP3b5_UBe sure to give it a listen and tell your friend!
