Jozefien Buydens and Svea Vikander host KALX's newest public affairs show, a bi-weekly exploration of artists' lives and workspaces. Each episode, they take you onsite to meet a Bay Area artist whose choices, workspace, and unique challenges make them a fascinating, crush-worthy subject.
Svea Vikander is a Swedish-Canadian artist whose interest in the lives of creative people has led her around the world and, eventually, to an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Raised in a community of eccentrics and artists (her mother is a painter; her cousin is the Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander), she now asks artists personal questions in private practice and on public radio.
Jozefien Buydens is a textile designer and Belgian national whose residence in the Bay Area has brought her into the realms of radio (as co-host of Arts in Review on KALX), museums (as a guide at the SFMOMA) and art practice (as a weaver and couture student). When she's not riding her bike to the radio station, you can find her fighting with her loom at Temescal Studios on Telegraph Avenue.
