Season one 6 of Jury Duty explores the trial of Michael Barisone, who was charged with the attempted murders of Lauren Kanarek and Robert Goodwin in Long Valley, New Jersey. Kanarek was struck in the chest by two bullets from Barisone’s weapon, and as it was undisputed that Barisone fired those shots, his legal team argued that he was not guilty because he was legally insane at the time of the shooting AND in the alternative because he fired those shots in self defense.
