I Only Like You and Movies
S6E40 – "Oppenheimer" (spoilers)
•
It's here. The biggest film of the year. And we were blown away.
Links:
- Senaai got her wires crossed and amalgamated two documentaries when she referred to three Japanese men returning home. The first film was Paper City, actually about the firebombing on Tokyo in 1945, a few months before the atomic bomb was detonated. The other is called Hiroshima: The Aftermath. There is also this incredible article by John Hersey of the same name.
- The mockumentary we spoke about is called The War Game, which won an Oscar for Best Documentary in 1967.
- The Tweet we mentioned from Brendan Hodges (@metaplexmovies) about morality in film is here. And here is the linked article from The Atlantic: Moralism is Ruining Cultural Criticism.
- The Tweet about Barefoot Gen has been removed from Twitter, but you can read more about the animated film here.

S7E38 – "A Quiet Place: Day One" (spoilers)
20:06|A Quiet Place: Day One was an interesting slice-of-life take on the apocalypse genre with excellent performances, but it didn't give us enough action or depth of character to give the other films in its franchise a run for their money.Check out Lonnie’s other podcast: @imissyoumanHit us up on Twitter: @ionlylikeyoupodEmail us: slpodcasting@gmail.comS7E37 – "Colin from Accounts" Season 2 (spoilers)
09:49|Season 2 of Colin from Accounts matches the first season with its jokes and charm, but has a lot less Colin than we're comfortable with, honestly.Check out Lonnie’s other podcast: @imissyoumanHit us up on Twitter: @ionlylikeyoupodEmail us: slpodcasting@gmail.comS7E36 – "Inside Out 2" (spoilers)
30:57|Inside Out 2 did everything the first movie did, and we mean that literally. A 2D segment? Check. Joy discovering that she can't be in control? Check. A journey back to headquarters? Check. So why was it so much worse?Check out Lonnie’s other podcast: @imissyoumanHit us up on Twitter: @ionlylikeyoupodEmail us: slpodcasting@gmail.comS7E35 – "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" (spoilers)
25:25|Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga answered a lot of questions we didn't really care about, and didn't elucidate anything that we hadn't already assumed. 15:57|Twisters really blew us away! Daisy and Glen were utterly charming, and the script had a few new spins, but we will never ever forget what Steven Spielberg stole from us.
