S10 Ep10: Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, writers of Six
Tony and Olivier nominees Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss are In The Frame!
Toby and Lucy are the writers and creators of Six The Musical, and Lucy is also the show’s co-director. From this Sunday 6th April a special filmed version of Six, with the original West End queens, is being screened in UK cinemas.
Six premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017 and went on to begin its West End reign in 2019. Six is also running on Broadway whilst touring both the UK and US and playing internationally.
Six The Musical LIVE was made in 2022 when the original West End cast reunited for some performances at Hampton Court Palace prior to filming the show in the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre.
Toby and Lucy’s second musical Why Am I So Single? premiered last year in the West End and has just released its cast album featuring a very special feature from Patti LuPone. Lucy also directed the 2022 London revival of Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
In this episode Toby and Lucy speak about the process of making this filmed production and the evolution of Six. They also reflect on Why Am I So Single?'s West End run, the story behind Patti LuPone doing the album as well as their passion for authenticity onstage and the impact that has had on theatre.

The new production has been reconceived by Cameron Mackintosh, with direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and co-direction by Jean-Pierre van der Spuy. Shanay opened with the show last summer at Chichester Festival Theatre before transferring to the Gielgud Theatre in London where Oliver! continues to play.Shanay recently played Ellen in Miss Saigon (Sheffield Theatres) and created the role of Cindy Breakspeare in Get Up Stand Up! (Lyric Theatre).After making her professional debut in Thriller Live (Lyric Theatre), Shanay went on to become the youngest person to ever play Rachael Maron in The Bodyguard (Adelphi Theatre). Shanay and her husband Chris Steward are the masterminds, creators and producers of Musical Con, the world's biggest musical theatre fan convention. Musical Con returns for a fourth time this October at the ExCeL Centre. They also produce West End Musical Brunch, a plethora of West End Musical concerts and a variety of other projects. He has played both Marius and Javert in the West End production of Les Misérables - he also appeared in the film adaptation and played Grantaire in the Les Misérables 25th anniversary concert at the O2 Arena. Hadley played Raoul in the 25th anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall. Hadley has appeared in concert stagings of musicals such as Dirty Rotten Sounders, The Secret Garden, Chess, South Pacific, Carousel and The Light Princess.He is currently appearing in The Deep Blue Sea at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and has performed in other plays such as The Lehman Trilogy, 2:22 and many more.
