Incheon Into My Seoul

With this podcast covering episodes 11 and 12 of Mr. Sunshine we are officially halfway through the series. We talk a little vague Korean history as well as some personal history that indirectly led to the creation of this podcast. There's sassy side characters, there's long looks of love, there's women warring with weapons, and there's Andrea's adventures in alliteration! Okay, that last one might just be in this write-up. Join us and learn more about the national days of Luxembourg and Cyprus than you ever thought you would.

We start with hugs and we end with heartbreak. We're covering Mr. Sunshine, episodes 9 and 10. That means we're talking about backstabbing, traitors, look alikes, drunk (almost) golden retrievers, fantastic lines, and some of Andrea's favourite cinematography!

We continue to learn about love and build friendships (and then tear them apart) in episodes 7 and 8 of Mr. Sunshine. There's multiple gunshot wounds. Some intentional, some accidental. There's decoy ships to Shanghai and mistaken identity between Andrea's favourite "are we sure they're not twins" characters. But most of all, there is a lot of Andrea wishing that four of the characters hosted a travel show. Surely, four fictional characters hosting a travel show isn't too much to ask for, is it?

How are we going to celebrate reaching episodes 5 & 6? By having Andrea *bleep* a word that rhymes with hunt... twice. Well done, me. But don't worry, I also go on a rant about the cinematography in one of the scenes. So, some anger, some love, some annoyance about life. A typical episode!

To kick of Pride month, we're talking glory ho...tels! Yup. Never stopped and giggled over that name! Nope. Not super mature me! We cover three episodes to get us back on track. There's murder, ransacking, eye witnesses that saw nothing, false descriptions, disguises, and questions about the paternity of two of the characters. Seriously. I know it's dodgy for a non-melanated person to say this, but are we sure they're not the same person just pulling the greatest joke on the entire Korean entertainment industry?

We are back with a full series, and we are finally taking on Mr. Sunshine. So let's talk about The Wind That Shakes the Barley vs Michael Collins. Look, it will all make sense if you listen. We become a temporary amateur history podcast before discussing why inconsistent dates in a historical drama don't bug Andrea, but sailing from Korea to New York City on the same boat before the Panama Canal even began construction does.

We're wrapping up this series of stand-alones with a zombie movie because I like zombie movies. We've been over this! Many times! Well, at least three times previously to this. A look at what happens when there's a zombie outbreak and you stay in your apartment all alone, like the authorities tell you to. Would you wait until day 7 to break into your dad's liquor cabinet? [Andrea's answer: nope!]

For the penultimate episode for this round of stand-alones, we're visiting the XianXia worlds of Chinese fantasy to talk about The Untamed (love the totally platonic bromance *wink*), Eternal Love (love the second couple and a bunch of the side characters), and Feud (love seeking revenge on former lovers who have wronged you)! But what ultimately wins in all of these series? The cosutmes! Is this what finally tips me into cosplay? (My ADHD brain: highly unlikely, but she'll make some amazing plans for said cosplays.)

While Andrea tries to limit screentime like she's some sort of toddler, enjoy a repeat episode that is most definitely not created using AI! Good luck to AI replicating whatever it is going on in this brain!
