Today, Robin hosts Kemba Smith- advocate, consultant, author, and inspiration behind the movie KEMBA, a story of a young girl who falls in love with a drug kingpin only to be unjustly sentenced to 24.5 years in prison for his crimes. Kemba's story empowered a national movement against the rise in lengthy sentences for non-violent, first time offenders and also sheds light on how women are among the highest rate of the growing population in mass incarceration. While Kemba has been pardoned and is free to fight for the movement, her cellmate Michelle West is still waiting for such an occurrence.
