I'ma Need More Wine Podcast
The Knives Out Episode... Allegedly
Grab your wine, sharpen your knives, and get ready for a WILD ride! We invited a special guest, put on our best sweaters, and talked about all things Knives Out . . . or did we? This is allegedly a discussion about Knives Out, but we also managed to work in ben wa balls, pegging, the hottest Chris, and a lot about the actual film.
Intro - 15:16: Meet Our Guest
Meet our special guest - award winning producer and director, Terence Johnson. We share how we became acquainted with Terence, chat about our drink selections, and toast our lovely listeners in England.
15:17 - Sh*t We Liked/Rona Recs
As for sh*t we liked, Terence is excited about new music releases from Fiona Apple and Da Baby. Kristine is still feeling the love for her favorite look queen, Nicky Doll. Animal Crossing is now Jocelyn's happy place.
37:24 - The Knives Are Out
We kick off our discussion with our overall thoughts about the movie. Spoiler alert - we loved it! We also discuss the ending and whether we saw it coming.
1:08:33 - Entitlement And Privilege
The Thrombeys are PEAK entitlement and privilege. We talk about the "White nonsense" of it all and share our thoughts on how Rian Johnson tackled entitlement and xenophobia in the film. Terence and Kristine disown Jocelyn after she goes on a bit of a rant about a beloved, but sometimes misguided actor.
2:03:28 - Worst Thrombey
There are many contenders! We somehow manage to whittle it down to one choice each, but they are ALL awful.
2:11:16 - Ben Wa Balls
We talk about Daniel Craig's accent as Benoit Blanc. Was it necessary? You'll have to listen to find out! Heads up, Jocelyn cannot manage to talk about Benoit Blanc without calling him Ben Wa Balls.
2:18:212 - Favorite Lewks
The sweaters on Chris Evans are perfectly fine, but we had some other favorite fashion choices from the film. Kristine also learned that when you ask your fellow podcasters for their favorite Captain America outfit, they come prepared to discuss their Captain America outfit! Enjoy our very lengthy, very thirsty tangent!
3:12:46 - Thirst Traps
We share our thirsty thoughts about the cast. Terence questions whether Jocelyn has praying family members based on her thirst choices.
3:23:41 - Final Thoughts
The discussion wraps us with our thoughts on what a sequel to Knives Out would look like. We also do some fun guest casting about our dream film in which Benoit Blanc investigates a murder in a Black family.

24. Does It Hold Up: Trading Places
02:05:31||Ep. 24Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back and introducing our special series, Does It Hold Up. In this series, we will occasionally watch a classic film from the past and examine whether or not it still holds up today. Up first, the 1983 hit Trading Places, starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. The film is undoubtedly funny and features a stellar cast, but also has its problems with blackface and gratuitous use of offensive language that definitely wouldn't fly in 2020. As always, we kick off with our drinking selections for the week. We also raise our glasses and salute our lovely listeners in Los Angeles, California. Thank you for your support. Before getting into our topic of the week, we talk all things Animal Crossing. Kristine has joined the game and she is hooked on the Nook!Next, we get into the topic of the week - Trading Places. We start with our overall reactions to the film and then unpack its problematic parts. We also talk about the parts of the film that still ring true today, get into the Philadelphia of it all, and ponder what a modern version of the film might look like. We then close out with our final verdict - is Trading Places timeless or is time up for the film? Listen to find out where we landed.Links to ish we mentioned:The Animal Crossing videos that got Kristine hooked on the game before she could even get a Switch. An oral history of Trading Places.Until next time! 02:57:43||Ep. 23Happy Wine Wednesday! We are saluting our favorite fictional wine mom, Linda Belcher. As always, we kick off the episode with our drinking selections and listener toast. We raised our glasses this week to our lovely listeners in Adelaide, South Australia. Kristine is digging ESPN Ocho and Jocelyn was excited about Digital Drag Con - links to both below. Over in the Corona Corner, we recommended virtual game nights via Jackbox and streaming Community on Netflix to spark a little joy while you stay at home.In honor of Mother's Day, we share our favorite fictional moms. Next, we move on to our topic of the week - the LEGENDARY Linda Belcher. Kristine is a newbie to Bob's Burgers, so we started with our overall reactions to the show. We are happy to report that she loved it! Using our watchlist as a guide, we talk about Linda as a mom, a wife, and a character generally. Indeed, Linda is a longtime member of #TeamTooMuch, but she's so endearing. How can you not like a character who loves her wine and follows the life of a raccoon she named Little King Trashmouth? Although it's an episode all about Linda, we work in a little bonus discussion of the other Belchers we love and share our favorite songs from the watchlist. 02:24:55||Ep. 22Happy Wine Wednesday! We are delighted to be joined this week by award-winning writer and producer, Rob Maylor. Rob is a writer on the award-winning film Sprinter, which we discuss this week. We are so lucky to have him!As always, we kick things off with a few things we liked and some Rona Recs. Rob dropped some exciting news about the availability of Sprinter on Netflix in Canada and the Caribbean. We also saluted the unforgettable Verzuz battle between Babyface and Teddy Riley. We raised our glasses and gave our heartfelt thanks to our lovely listeners in Philadelphia. Long live Comrade Gritty!Next, we get into our topic of the week - Sprinter! Sprinter is a heartfelt, wonderfully written film that provides invaluable insight into the ways in which immigration impacts families. Rob shares lots of wonderful insights, including his inspiration for the film and favorite scene to write. We also talk about the powerful portrayal of West Indian culture, as well as the brilliant use of Jamaica as a beautiful backdrop to the story. We celebrate the film for bucking tired tropes of plots driven by Black pain and death. We also get into memorable characters, such as Kerry and Germaine and close it out with a bit of thirst. It's a really fun time and we are so grateful to Rob for joining us. 02:45:24||Ep. 20Welcome back, squirrel friends! Our deep dive into Season 12 of RuPaul's Drag Race continues.01:41 Snatch Game!We continue our journey through Drag Race herstory by discussing memorable past performances by Bianca Del Rio (Season 6) and Tatianna (Season 2). Jocelyn extends her deepest apologies for having a complete brain fart and forgetting that Bob the Drag Queen knocked it out of the park in Season 8 as both Uzo Aduba and Carol Channing. We then get into the Season 12 performances. As longtime fans of the Housewives franchise, we really enjoyed Jackie Cox as Lisa Rinna. Heidi was also lots of fun as Leslie Jones.38:28 Madonna Rusical! Thanks to Jocelyn's mic snafu, we were able to watch the Rusical episode before recording the second half of our discussion. We are happy to report that Kristine, the Drag Race newbie, enjoyed her very first Rusical. We both agreed that it felt a bit long at times, but the episode was entertaining nonetheless. We took exception to Jaida not being in the Top 3. We were happy to see her work through the nerves and serve up a sexy performance. We saluted the the return of Jamal Sims and share our thoughts on the night of 1,000 Michelle Visages theme.1:18:30 LEWKS!!!Kristine is loving the fashions this seasons, so it should come as no surprise that she had more than one favorite look to share. Jocelyn can NEVER settle on one pick, so she had multiple favorite looks too. One thing is clear, Gigi and Jaida are SERVING this season and we are loving every second of it.1:37:07 Best Lip Sync for Your LifeIt's Drag Race, so of course we discuss the Lip Sync for Your Life face-offs. As of the Rusical, we were still waiting for the performance that knocked our socks off, but the potential is clearly there. We're keeping an eye on The Widow Von'Du. We don't want to see her in the bottom, but there is no question that she is a lip sync assassin in the making. We also chat about some past memorable lip syncs from the show. 1:46:02 Top Contenders and Season 12 FavoritesWe get into our top contenders as of the Rusical episode. Gigi Goode is emerging as the queen to beat. We are a little frustrated that Jaida does not get more love from the judges. She should be a clear frontrunner, but the show seems to suggest otherwise based on her placement in challenges. And then there are the queens we love and don't want to see leave - Heidi and The Widow. We also talk about which eliminated queen we'd like to see return.2:13:33 Narrator of the SeasonEach season, a few queens shine in their confessional interviews and give life to all of the drama and competition. The Widow Von'Du is one of the funniest narrators to emerge on the show in a long time and we cannot imagine what an episode would be like without her wit and shade. Not to be outdone, Heidi has also proven to be a force in the confessionals and we would truly miss her voice if she was eliminated.02:21:04 Thirsty ThoughtsYou know we would not close out an episode without talking about the contestants who trigger our thirstiest thoughts. We've got you covered with this brief, although not exhaustive, primer on drag styles - particularly those seen on Drag Race.50:31 - The Highs and Lows of RuPaul’s Drag RaceWe love Drag Race, but not so much that we cannot recognize where the show falls short. We would love to see more trans contestants on the show and to see RuPaul take a more proactive approach to addressing the social media harassment faced by Black contestants. 1:37:00 - First Impressions of Season 12Widow had us at hello. Gigi wowed us with her fashion sense, especially her keen sense of fit and shape. We've loved Jaida since the promo pics dropped. Her Werk Room entrance did not disappoint.1:56:11 - Favorite Mini and Maxi ChallengesWe rave about beehive jiving and runway showdowns. As for maxi challenges, World's Worst was a delightful love letter to Drag Race fans.2:21:55 - Favorite Mirror MomentIf your cup is empty, you might want to grab a refill and the tissues as we get all into our feels thanks to Jackie Cox, Widow Von Du, and Rock M. Sakura.3:02:45 - Favorite Guest Judge and OutroNicki Minaj and Thandie Newton gave thoughtful feedback and got our vote for best guest judges.
