PJ has flown to England for their show in London so of course he has a stressful airport story to tell. Meanwhile Kevin has been brushing shoulders with celebs but is mortified at the fact that he was roaring Charli XCX’s name at the top of his lungs in the thickest Cork accent ever when he was standing right in front of her during her DJ set. The lads take a look at Irish mythology and revisit all the old magical tales we were told in our school days like The Children of Lir, Tír na nÓg and The Salmon of Knowledge. Their retelling of some of the stories is definitely questionable but luckily they have Sadhbh’s notes to hand to clear up any grey areas such as whether Cú Chulainn was into pup play.

53:41|Kevin’s had enough of PJ’s journey of enlightenment and self-improvement, which isn’t helped by PJ telling us all about his day farming and learning to grow his own veg in Wicklow. In other news, Kevin has had his now infamous polyp removed, and luckily his anaesthetist was fairly easy on the eyes, girls.For the theme, the lads are discussing personality tests, specifically the Enneagram (which we now know has nothing to do with Scientology: phew!). 46:10|The lads are buzzing after their second appearance on the Late Late Show, and not even the abysmal Facebook comments can bring them down! They laugh at some of the worst ones, while also acknowledging the loyal girlies who always have their backs. They then turn their attention to the mortal enemy of healthy gut microbiome everywhere: the airport sandwich. Inspired by Bad Bunny’s recent Super Bowl performance, the theme for this week is celebrity activism. The boys discuss some of the celebrities who have advocated for causes throughout their careers, and wonder whether we expect too much from our pop culture figures. The boys also discuss all the tea from the new America’s Next Top Model documentary, including Tyra attempting to gaslight us all in her now infamous trenchcoat.In honour of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the lads are talking all about their favourite people: the girlies! The theme for this week is feminism, so Kevin has an excuse to talk about the ultimate feminist queen, Lisa Simpson, as well as the connection that gay men have to the women in their lives. 56:19|This week Kevin enters his glasses era after discovering he has astigmatism and the lads spend a significant amount of time unpacking what this means for him personally, professionally and spiritually. While the realisation has shaken him slightly, mainly because it has forced him to confront the fact that youth is perhaps not as close as it once was, there are upsides. Chief among them is the discovery that wearing glasses may actually improve his flirting success rate.For the theme, Kevin and PJ dive into dating horror stories. They reminisce on everything from Cher Lloyd’s iconic Halloween cover of Stay, to Ireland’s best talent show, You’re A Star. This week, the lads talk all about pretentious London yoga classes, hot instructors and PJ’s recent D.I.Y. successes, before unpacking the perils of cooking with chillies. Just an average day at I’m Grand Mam HQ!For the theme, inspired slightly by Heated Rivalry, they dive into double lives. Covering everything from Hannah Montana to spy Mata Hari and actor Rock Hudson, they realise that queer people can particularly relate to the idea of having a double life. They then read some listener stories and take one main thing away from them: having a double life would have them wrecked.Ep 228 - By Hook or By Crook
57:53|This week Kevin and PJ recount a tasting menu experience in Lisbon. 52:48|The boys are in Lisbon and as gorgeous as the city is Kevin takes a moment to criticise all the hills and cobbled roads that resulted in him falling off a Lime scooter en route to a Crossfit class. PJ reminisces on his chaotic 18th birthday party where fake IDs and stray fists were in plentiful supply. Prompted by this episode coming out on Blue Monday the lads have a discussion about made up holidays and ask why January is such a depressing month and Kevin puts forward a bid for dry January to be changed to a dry November going forward because the month is already horrendous enough as it is. They also make plans for celebrating I'm Grand Mam day which is happening on the 16th of February when the podcast celebrates 7 years in production.
