I'M FROM THE INTERNET

Special Bonus: Jay and Winslow on Manawatu Peoples Radio New Zealand

We got broadcast over the air in New Zealand, baby! That means the radio waves containing our voices will continue to echo through the cosmos long after our sun has extinguished, all because a year ago Jay repurposed a Twitter account about video game toilets to post about weird forums lore.

If you enjoyed listening to Hugh, give him a follow on Twitter https://twitter.com/ObjectiveRealty

He also makes music that sounds kind of like the music from LISA: The Painful RPG which is high praise imho https://wolfboy.bandcamp.com/album/sand-treks

    01:14:48||Ep. 60
    Resuming the Danganronpa Let's Play saga, we're working through the cases and we touch on the different extant fandoms and communities that helped popularize Danganronpa. • 59. Let's Play Danganronpa! (Part One)

    01:24:32||Ep. 59
    When Something Awful poster Orenronen began translating the relatively obscure Japanese visual novel Danganronpa in 2011, it was considered too weird to get an official English localization. Over a decade later, Danganronpa is a multimillion-selling franchise and one of the most successful visual novel franchises in the west. It's one of the most impactful sagas to come out of Something Awful and also our first foray into the Let's Play subforum, so why not pay tribute to both by doing an exploration of the plot of Danganronpa in tandem? Jay has played the entire game and a good chunk of the sequel, now he just has to summarize an infamously complicated and weird story from a different language and culture in an audio medium.For this series we are joined by horror and anime expert Vanessa Guerrero from Game Grumps, who are currently playing through the Danganronpa series. https://x.com/nessguerrerohttps://www.twitch.tv/Nesguerrerohttps://www.instagram.com/snesguerreroThe document with expanded show topics is available for review and comment at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p-tyrzJOXF0m4lIrL49EW-1jIveX-4j2y14UNrnYG_Y/edit?tab=t.0You can review this episode's document with sources at https://tinyurl.com/SADanganronpaPodDocFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
  • 58. Something Awful References in Video Games (Minisode)

    01:12:55||Ep. 58
    The summer of gaming is drawing to a close, so here's a fun look at the times Something Awful showed up in commercial video games over the years. It's a good glimpse at how Something Awful was viewed as a comedy gaming site during its height and how many people in the games industry read the front page. The Zybourne Clock episode is coming up so this has some fun foreshadowing for that as well.The document with expanded show topics is available for review and comment at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p-tyrzJOXF0m4lIrL49EW-1jIveX-4j2y14UNrnYG_Y/edit?tab=t.0You can review this episode's document with sources at https://tinyurl.com/SAGamingRef1PodDocFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
  • 57. Returning From 100,000 Hours of Probation

    01:06:12||Ep. 57
    100,000 hours of probation is one of the worst punishments the administrators of Something Awful can mete out to problem posters. This episode, we talk about what it takes to be banished to the Phantom Zone for almost three presidential elections and one recent newsworthy example of someone returning from their 4,166 days of exile.You can review and comment on the document for expanded show topics at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p-tyrzJOXF0m4lIrL49EW-1jIveX-4j2y14UNrnYG_Y/edit?tab=t.0You can review this episode's document with sources (and pictures) at https://tinyurl.com/100kProbeSAPodDocFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.

    01:03:54||Ep. 56
    Sans Undertale! Now that I have your attention: Somebody who worked on Undertale was a Something Awful poster. Not just any poster, but an especially good and beloved one who made a lot of neat stuff! The summer of gaming continues with a breezy look of one of the last big Posting Superstars on Something Awful, where they came from, and where they are now.You can review this episode's document with sources at https://tinyurl.com/EverdraedShowcaseSAPodDocFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
  • 55. Goons Cancel Scott Cawthon By Accident (Part Two)

    47:30||Ep. 55
    Resuming from last week: a discussion about shitty indie game developers in the Rapidly Going Deaf subforum of the Something Awful forums is about to unearth Scott Cawthon's political donations, and just ten hours later it would become a trending topic on Twitter. If you like shitty insincere apologies, you're gonna love this one!You can review this episode's document with sources at https://tinyurl.com/SAPodDocFNAFFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406(Usually) Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is (usually) "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
  • 54. Goons Cancel Scott Cawthon By Accident (Part One)

    49:05||Ep. 54
    The children's horror game series Five Nights At Freddy's turns 10 years old this month, and what better way to celebrate than continuing this show's accidental running theme of game developers being shitty people? You might have heard that Scott Cawthon, the creator of Five Nights At Freddy's, is a Republican donor who stepped out of the public limelight when his political donations were brought to light. What you might not know is that the Something Awful forums were where these donations were originally dug up. Jay is editing because Steve is on vacation, FYI.You can review this episode's document with sources at https://tinyurl.com/SAPodDocFNAFFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406(Usually) Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is (usually) "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
  • 53. UNLOCKED: Dave Barry: 90s Influencer (Patreon Bonus Ep)

    01:07:55||Ep. 53
    Steve's on vacation so enjoy another freebie from the Patreon vault! We're talking about syndicated newspaper humor columnist Dave Barry and his early internet exploits. On the one hand, he's probably the reason I know about Mr T Ate My Balls. On the other hand, he's a Libertarian who got teased off of his own Usenet fan group for ranting about his computer being Jewish.Check out Producer Steve's new album at https://soundcloud.com/killhamster/sets/method-to-the-sadnessAnd his Defcon track: https://soundcloud.com/killhamster/rogue-projectYou can review this episode's document with sources (and pictures) at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gYdbRTHX1YfKeAhcYyUwr8ormO5wKLjgrXgpgGGr9HY/edit?usp=sharingFor inquiries, contact the show directly at IFTIpod@gmail.comCreated and Hosted by:Winslow Dumaine - www.winslowdumaine.com/Jay Brandstetter - linktr.ee/jaybrandstetterPO Box 2750Ventor City, NJ 08406Produced and Edited by:Steve Brown - linktr.ee/killhamsterIntro and Outro music is "in failure" by steveisbroke off of their album "steve and his week of wonders", used with permission. https://steveisbroke.bandcamp.com/album/steve-and-his-week-of-wondersThis program is not affiliated with or sponsored by Something Awful LLC or Jeffrey of YOSPOS.
