Real Time s3e17 - Gaypreme Court Justgay - Paternity Leave Chapter Two w/ Ella Dawson feat TJ Alexander

I continue to say "Hello baby" because I'm on paternity leave and babies need to be greeted, so writer and past guest Ella Dawson stepped in to cover my pathetic ass, and she brought fellow writer TJ Alexander with her! I could give a brief overview of the things they had to watch, but really I'll just warn people that PJ O'Rourke was on the panel and he's extremely fucking annoying.

Check out TJ's newest book, A Lady for All Seasons, here

Well well well, it would seem Ella ALSO has a book

There's another live I Hate Bill Maher happening on June 27th at the Lyric Hyperion in Los Angeles! Get Tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/i-hate-bill-maher-live-tickets-1989800116713Look, I know it's pretty rich coming from me given what this whole show is, but I resent having current events analyzed by some fucking pop history podcaster who has a show called "History's Greatest Fails". Like, be fucking serious!!! This week, Jeremy Appel returns to experience new Maher, and he insults the History's Greatest Fails guy by calling him "unctuous", something I was unaware was an insult and that I assumed was like just for food. The one on one interview IS good this week. I haven't seen Ben McKenzie's doc, but I read Easy Money and it's really good. Honestly, you should read it, too.Read and listen to The OrchardSupport I Hate Bill Maher on Patreon

  • Real Time s24e13 - People Used to Shoot Each Other in the Ass, Now They Just Watch YouTubes feat Molly Ruben-Long

    01:49:55|
I'll be honest: not my best Judgement Free Question Zone.Comedian Molly Ruben-Long this week joins the show this week to establish herself as probably my most high guest so far, and also what it was like being a New Atheist (TM!!!!) and slowly realizing, oh, these guys are assholes. Then we get into a pretty miserable Real Time episode that ends with Bill Maher proudly and angrily being an incredibly stupid asshole. Also, if I sound a little low energy at first I wanted to make sure I didn't spook her dog until she got used to me. Also I get very pro-smoking towards the end, but don't smoke it's gross.Oh and also spoilers for Training Day, the film where Ethan Hawke plays John Training Day.Follow Molly on InstagramSupport I Hate Bill Maher on Patreon

    01:58:45|
Writer and podcaster Katelyn Burns joins me this week to get insanely annoyed with Rahm Emanuel. I'd say she and I both agree that we can't wait until we're a few months into the 2028 primaries so that this guy will have definitely, 100% been forced out of the conversation of who is truly viable to run for president. Like, give me a break with this shit, he's such an absolute loser. Oh, also I didn't put in the Worm of the Week music because I lost track of where it was in the episode.Listen to Cancel my Daddy and follow Katelyn hereSupport I Hate Bill Maher on Patreon
  • Real Time s24e10 - Begun, the Iced Cream Wars Have feat Ella Dawson

    02:35:36|
Well, the episode is once again out on Thursday, not Wednesday. Because Will, Will never changes. Ella Dawson returns to the pod with her brain all filled up with Fallout New Vegas shit to talk about Real Time, season 24, episode 10. The episode features a panelist so loathed that another previous IHBM guest remarked "I don't think I can listen to this" (It's Douglas Murray). Well, whatever man, welcome to my fucking world! The panel is the first one all season where one panelist actually properly goes after the other one, which I guess is the closest you can get to satisfaction in this miserable world, and the interview guest is kind of fun, but man oh man, that last New Rule is absolutely REPELLANT. I'm not sure this episode description makes a lot of sense, but give me a break, okay, I'm doing my freaking best over here!!!Buy Ella's book and listen to her podcastSupport I Hate Bill Maher on Patreon
  • Real Time Off Week - Bella Thorne Month Compilation

    53:58|
Real Time is off this week, so I am, too! But I guess actually not really, because I still did some house keeping and played some voicemails at the start of this. Looking back on it, I definitely would not describe it as "focused and to the point" but what are you gonna do, y'know? And after that? Oh baby, it's a compilation of clips from I Especially Hate Bill Maher's "Bella Thorne Month" series of episodes. You get to hear from Stefan Heck & John Cullen, Lisa Curry, Emily Faye, and Allen Strickland Williams, whom I all had watch the Bella Thorne Club Random episode and then talk about it with me. Looking back on it I'm kind of like "What the hell was I thinking?" but I enjoyed it a lot. They didn't, so mission accomplished on my end, I guess. But in all seriousness, all of them are some of the funniest people I know, and they all noticed things I somehow had not in my previous fifteen viewings of this thing.00:00 - Intro/Voicemails24:20 - Stefan Heck and John Cullen32:35 - Lisa Curry40:03 - Emily Faye46:51 - Allen Strickland Williams
