  • 2. Ep. 2 Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes: Psychedelics, Philosophy, and Connection

    55:38
On our latest episode we are joined by the philosopher Dr Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes, a leading researcher in the fields of psychedelics, metaphysics, and sentience. Peter draws from philosophers such as Spinoza and Whitehead, incorporating a panpsychist and monistic approach into modern interdisciplinary understandings of psychedelics. As such, he is keen to emphasise the importance of metaphysics in psychedelic research and therapy - typefied by by his recent paper 'On The Need For Metaphysics in Psychedelic Therapy' in Frontiers in Psychology. We had a great conversation spanning all things psychedelics and metaphysics, but also touching on the virtuality of the post-pandemic world, Nick Cave, and the enigma of human connection. You can read more of Peter's work here. Here is a link to his Ted Talk on Philosophy and Consciousness.
