12. Coversation with Rich Logis: Leaving MAGA
01:05:29||Ep. 12I am thrilled for you to learn more about my guest for this episode, Rich Logis, founder of the non-profit Leaving MAGA. As you know, I am fascinated with change – individual and collective change. What does it take to really change our direction in life? How do we learn to see the beliefs and sense of identity that keeps us from changing? How are we living into our values, what we truly find meaningful in life, when we change? Are our values preserved, refined or do they evolve? Why is it so hard to change? And what happens in a life when you’ve made some choices that send you on a direction that ends up reshaping every area of your life to the point that some important parts of your life now feel alien to you, no longer feel safe and welcoming. And so you silo those parts off, and live in a new world. But then one day, you wake up to see that you’ve made an error, that you chose a path that is not what you thought it was, and that you need make a new choice. But because you have reshaped your life and relationships so much, you are afraid to admit the mistake, and even more afraid that your old world has permanently moved on from you, rejected you, can no longer see you. My guest today, Rich Logis is a man who has lived such a path the last ten years. Rich was a devoted member of the MAGA nation for seven years, but eventually, due to a string of events and realizations came to see that he could no longer support the movement. He founded a non-profit Leaving MAGA for those have left MAGA and desire community, those who want to empower others to leave, and for those filled with doubt and remorse about being a member of MAGA but are afraid to leave. If you have friends or family that you’re struggling to speak with about politics, check out Rich’s community, Leaving MAGA, that is here to support you, and if you are someone who has quietly quit or are contemplating leaving MAGA, Rich has lots of resources for you. - - - - - - - - - - If this podcast has got you thinking and wondering, and you want to explore the topic in more depth, I invite you to join me in my monthly online call where I and others dig into things more deeply. 11. Conversation with Craig Chalquist
01:06:57||Ep. 11My guest on this episode is Craig Chalquist PhD, is a former psychotherapist, professor, scholar, and lecturer, who teaches and writes at the intersection of consciousness, place, story, and imagination. He’s published multiple non-fiction books mostly focusing on Terrapsychology, Ecotherapy and exploring ones’ personal myth, but he’s also a fiction writer and has a series of speculative fiction books including his Lamplighter series. He currently is the Academic Program Director of Consciousness, Psychology, and Transformation at National University, and has taught at both the California Institute of Integral Studies, and Pacifica Graduate Institute. And has recently founded Lampcove which is a part of the Pronaia Academy and was created to address the dire need for a New Kind of Change Agent.Craig and I met a few years back at a conference where he spoke about field of inquiry and action that he has named Enchantivism which denote the actions of creative people at every level of society who give us glimpses of how things could be, making collective change through inspiration. Among many threads of inquiry, Craig sees the need for a new kind of change agent who are the cultural edge-walkers with untapped potential for change. They are not dependent on the heroic-patriarchal model of change and can help us turn away from a culture of hyper-individualistic materialism that has unmoored us from the inner, social, and natural worlds and connect us to a new collective, overarching Big Story or “mythology” of meaning that outworn Patriarchal religion and modern materialism clearly no longer offer.
