Season 4

In October 2017, Sarah and Michael went to Las Vegas on their American holiday. They saw magic, ate lots of food, and were next door to the worst mass shooting in US history. This is the story of what happened during and after.

  • 5. Episode 40 - One That's Really a Shameless Plug

    08:20||Season 5, Ep. 5
    Sometimes, things don't go to plan. I've had a two week stretch that started well, but then nothing really panned out. I had some work on that then got postponed, which meant the idea I had for Human/Ordinary couldn't be realised. Them's the breaks I guess.What you get instead is a plug for a show that I worked on earlier this year. I feel it deserves more listeners because it's a cracking story and we worked hard on it. You'll hear a trailer for it, followed by a few select scenes from across the series. They're all without context, so the idea is to pique your interest enough that you'll check it out.Fingers crossed.Listen to Treason here, or wherever you get your podcasts.And you can find more of my work here.
  • 4. Episode 39 - One About an Old Friend

    07:15||Season 5, Ep. 4
    A friend of mine died recently. This is the story of our friendship, and my hate for him.I've decided to dispense with the intro narration; they weren't really adding anything and you hear from me enough as it is.This episode is a part of a little series of stories called One Every Two. I'm going to make a new one every two weeks, and upload whatever I have when the time is up. I really abandoned this story. I wish, given the subject matter, I was able to take more care with it. But then, if I gave myself more time, I might just have tinkered and tinkered until it was all tinkered out.This story contains audio from videos created twenty years ago by many amazing people, including Ben Flavel, Emma Fisher, Paul Watson, Richard Halstead, Chris Ryan, Julia Sutherland, Kathryn Piggott and Ryan Coonan. I haven't asked their permission to use this audio, but will instead ask for their forgiveness.A sound recording of Japan from the Soundly Pro library is used.Everything else is by me. Check out more here.
  • 3. Episode 38 - One About a Mini-Lockdown

    06:59||Season 5, Ep. 3
    Continuing my little series One Every Two, here's a little story about a week where we had to go back into lockdown. Just me, my partner, our two kids, a big cubby, three suspected cases of whooping cough, and a new approach to parenting.Scripting, editing, sound design and music by me.Check out more of my stuff here.
  • 2. Episode 37 - One About a Weekend in the City

    08:31||Season 5, Ep. 2
    This is a little story about a weekend in the city with my son. I realise some things about getting older.Writing, sound design and music by me.More of my work here.Please rate and review if you have the time.
  • 1. Episode 36 - One About Hay Fever

    05:28||Season 5, Ep. 1
    Well it's been a long time between Human/Ordinary drinks.If anyone's still out there, hi!For the past five years I've been making a go of doing this podcasting caper as my job. But things have been slow lately and so I've decided to start making things for myself again.It starts here. A little series called One Every Two, where I'm going to try ("try" being the important term here) to make a new little story every couple of weeks. We'll see how it goes.Scriptwriting, sound design and music is all by me. You'll hear a bit from Morning Mood by Edvard Grieg. The arrangement is mine and the composition is in the public domain.Check out more of my stuff here.Anyway, thanks for listening.

  • Episode 33 - Nirvana Funeral Services

    28:10||Season 4
    Mic Cavazzini’s last story for this season of Human/Ordinary shares a lot of similarities with his first. It’s about the big things: life, death, and the Himalayas. It’s a story about journeys - how you end up doing what you do in life, and how you end up leaving it.Produced by Mic CavazziniRecording assistance by Rojita Adhikari rojitadhikari.wordpress.com/ Original music by Kent SutherlandOther music by Lennon Hutton - Leather Feather (Epidemic Sound); Monplaisir & Cie - Estampe Galactus Barbere Epaulé Giraffe (Free Music Archive); Sea of Land - The Big Blue (Free Music Archive); Blue Dot Sessions - The Air Escaping (Free Music Archive); andBorrtex - Going Undercover (Free Music Archive)Sound effects from soundsnap.com, with special credit for recordings to Charlie Atanasyan.+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +Human/Ordinary is produced in Melbourne and Sydney by Sam Loy, Mic Cavazzini, Cinnamon Nippard, and May Jasper.For more on the show...Website: humanordinary.comFacebook: facebook.com/humanordinarypodcastTwitter: @humanordinarypc
  • Episode 32 - Why Can't Hairdressers Be Like Plumbers?

    27:05||Season 4
    Her whole life, May Jasper has felt nervous about going to the hairdresser. She didn’t know anything about fashion, and she didn’t understand all the questions they would ask like “do you want more volume in your hair?” (Why, is that gonna make it louder?) And so she fantasised about a world where hairdressers were like plumbers. Just getting the job done, no questions asked.This episode, May finds out why that is actually a terrible idea. Produced by May Jasper.Recording and sound design by Andrew Callaghan.Original music by Kent Sutherland.Thanks to Marisa Ganci from the Chisholm Institute and Lisa from Birdie Hair Salon.If you would like to know more about the hairdressing courses offered by Chisholm Institute, check out their website: chisholm.edu.au/career-fields/hair-beauty-and-makeup Or if you want to get your haircut by Lisa, you can find her details at: birdiehair.com.au Thanks also to the Human Ordinary team for their editorial advice.+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +Human/Ordinary is produced in Melbourne and Sydney by Sam Loy, May Jasper, Mic Cavazzini, and Cinnamon Nippard.For more on the show...Website: humanordinary.comFacebook: facebook.com/humanordinarypodcastTwitter: @humanordinarypc
