  • 22. Sonny Day: Get Bullied For Flossing, Steal A Mirror From A Tram

    01:00:14||Season 1, Ep. 22
    SONNY DAY is one half of We Buy Your Kids - a design duo who've made incredible posters for the likes of Jack White, Youth Group, Laneway Festival, as well as tonnes of movie and video game posters for Mondo. As a painter, he's had solo exhibitions around the world and painted murals for Paramount House in Sydney to pluck just a couple of credits from his amazing CV. I'm very fortunate to call him a friend, I'm continually inspired by his work and his outlook on life and so it was a no-brainer to have him on this show. We retrace our friendship from being bullied over dental floss to painting over questionable murals during a heatwave, chat about the harshest feedback I ever got from an art teacher at school, having tough conversations as you get older, and pondering the later in life career pivot. Great chat with a great dude. You can buy some of Sonny and Biddy's incredible artwork here: https://sonnyandbiddy.bigcartel.com/How To Do Everything is now on Patreon! • 17. Jess Fuchs: Connect With Anyone, Almost Drown At A Party

    55:18||Season 1, Ep. 17
    After gigging with her in Sydney a while back, I knew that JESS FUCHS would be a great chat for this show and so I bestowed upon her the grand honour of christening my new recording space. Jess prides herself on her ability to connect with and accurately read anyone she meets. I'm not sure if I'm good at connecting with people or, as in the case of a recent encounter after a gig, I connect a little bit too much. We also chat about childhood e-mail addresses, my car being full of trash, comedians who are good at paperwork, and the time my dad almost drowned at my 21st. • 16. Sebastien Grainger (Death From Above 1979): Roast Lou Reed, Bake The Perfect Birthday Cake

    01:09:52||Season 1, Ep. 16
    The almighty DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 are about to hit Australia, playing their beloved debut album "You're A Woman, I'm A Machine" in full. They're one of my all-time favourite bands and so I'm thrilled to have vocalist and drummer SEBASTIEN GRAINGER join me on the show this week. We chat about how his self-critical appraisal of his own performances has softened over time, my failed attempt in 2011 to recommend a pizza place to him over Twitter, roasting Lou Reed at an awards show, shaking up the dynamic of his town by baking the perfect birthday cake and the strangely universal experience of navigating creative partnerships. You do not want to miss Death From Above 1979 on tour in Australia this April! They're playing Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. In spite of her self-confessed terrible sense of direction, MELANIE BRACEWELL found her way to the studio and joins us this week to chat about how her meteoric rise through the ranks of Australian comedy wouldn't have been possible without scaling the most dangerous peak of all: Cringe Mountain. Tommy's been offered a free meal and feels too scared to chase it up, all while Mel has had someone stay at her house for two whole months. We also discuss ways to save money, the youth grindset mentality, and pi!Check out Mel on tour with her new show 'A Little Treat': https://www.melaniebracewell.com/tourCome and see Tommy's new show 'Main Character' in Sydney and Brisbane in May.
