HOW MY PARENTS RAISED ME

241. A Window Into CHILDHOOD EMOTIONAL NEGLECT PART 2

Season 7

Childhood trauma can lead you into some very dysfunctional adult relationships because when you don’t believe you are worthy of real love and care, you accept abuse. When you have never been taught to connect to emotions or gut feelings, you can’t see the manipulation or how bright the red flags are. In Part two, Susannah is explaining how low it got for her as she was relentlessly stalked by her ex partner. She describes the realisation that this toxicity has been running through her ancestral line for decades and that true healing is about making real change, and wearing that cycle breaker crown. Please join me for part 2 of Susannah’s story.

Childhood emotional neglect is a silent yet insidious form of abuse that leaves a profound impact on an child's emotional well-being. It is characterised by an environment where a child's needs are consistently disregarded and unmet. In this episode, Susannah tells her heartbreaking story. From her first experience of being left in a cot for hours, alone and crying, to years of domestic violence where she would watch on as a frozen spectator. Susannah’s mother showed no affection, did not express love and would barely even make eye contact with her daughter. A huge part of Susanna’s healing has been in writing her poems. You can connect with susannah on Instagram at Window Pain Poetry www.instagram.com/windowpain_poetry and www.instagram.com/windowlight_healing
