Moonlight and Magnolias
Moonlight and MagnoliasSept. 5 – Sept. 22, 2019by Ron HutchinsonLegendary Hollywood producer David O. Selznick has a problem. He has just fired the director of Gone with the Wind and the script is on its umpteenth version. He desperately needs a new director and writer—immediately. However, the writer he wants, Ben Hecht, has never read the novel. Selznick also calls in director Victor Fleming, pulling him from finishing The Wizard of Oz to be the new director of Gone with the Wind. Selznick locks the three of them in his office for five days, with bananas and peanuts as their only food, to pull together a new script. Selznick and Fleming act out all the characters in the novel while Hecht types but, soon, fatigue, hunger, and sarcasm prevail. Tempers flare and hilarity ensues! A fun, farcical look at the behind-the-scene birth of one of the most beloved films of all time. With:Bill Krause as Ben HechtZachary Scabora as Victor FlemingDavid Wheelis as David O. The Cover of Life
Please join me as I talk to Vince, Laura and Kelly (founding members of Wildwood Theatre) as they discuss their new theater company and their currently running show, "The Cover of Life":Tood, Weetsie, and Sybill are brides in rural Louisiana in 1943. Each married a Cliffert brother. The men are off to war and a local news story about these young wives keeping the home fires burning intrigues Henry Luce. He decides that they belong on the cover of Life Magazine and assigns Kate Miller to the story. She has been covering the war in Europe and, though she views doing a "women's piece" as a career set-back, she accepts because it will be her first cover story. Kate spends a week with the Cliffert women and her haughty urban attitude gives way to sympathy as she begins to understand them while coming face-to-face with her own powerlessness in a man's world. Filled with charm and fun, The Cover of Life is a deeply affecting story about the struggle for self worth. The CastKate Miller..……………..……….………………………….. Penny ReigerTood…..……………………………………………. The Doyle and Debbie Show
Please join me in welcoming Luke Longacre and Chelsea Ryan McCurdy as they discuss their current show up at Stages Theatre - "The Doyle and Debbie Show" written by by Bruce Arntson.July 12 – September 8, 2019After failed marriages and tabloid scandals Doyle Mayfield recruits a new singing partner – also his third Debbie – in an attempt to regain his former stardom. But when Debbie’s star starts to rise, the comeback becomes a setback for this has-been legend. Featuring original songs – “When You’re Screwin’ Other Women (Think of Me),” “Barefoot and Pregnant,” and “ABCs of Love”, this brilliant parody is a hysterical tribute to country music and its beloved iconic duos.
