House Culture

008: Nick Muir

Season 1, Ep. 8

Nick Muir is a titan of the Progressive House genre and is one half of Bedrock (alongside John Digweed). Classically trained from a young age, Nick played in a variety of bands as well as featured as a session musician for many well known artists before he discovered dance music. Already tinkering in the studio with the early sequencer technology of the era, Nick was in the right place at the right time to hook up with John Digweed and create some of the defining music of the Progressive House scene - an ability that continues to this day. In this episode we chat about all of the above as well as what it's like to have your music featured in an iconic 90s film, the differences between being a DJ and a producer, and the key to maintaining one of the most prolific partnerships in dance music.
