Episode 96 - The Halifax Explosion

The Halifax Explosion occurred on 6 December 1917 and remains one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history.
It was caused by a collision in Halifax Harbour between two ships, one of which was carrying a massive load of wartime explosives. The resulting blast devastated much of the city, killed nearly 2,000 people, injured thousands more, and reshaped emergency response, disaster planning, and urban safety standards worldwide.
