Anthropologist Miguel Moniz (ICS, U.Lisboa) and historian Gilberto Fernandes (York University) are two public facing scholars with common interests in the contemporary issues & history of Portugal and Portuguese immigration in North America. Moniz grew up on Cape Cod and has lived in Portugal since the 1990s. He has a PhD from Brown University. Fernandes grew in the greater Lisbon area and has lived in Canada for over twenty years. He has a PhD from York University.
