48. June Swoon is a Very Nice Way to Put It
The Mets simply will not stop losing, and nobody knows who is to blame. Is it David and Ellen, for assuring Kaitlyn that Kodai Senga's injury was only sad and unfortunate and not the literal end of the world? Is it Brandon Nimmo, for wearing a Jesus T-shirt on Pride Night in an act of weirdness that may have jostled free an ancient curse? Is it God? Does God hate the Mets?
Well, we couldn't answer any of these questions, so instead we dwelled on some others. For instance, will Zohran Mamdani throw out a first pitch at Citi Field? Will Steve Cohen re-locate Citi Field to Westchester to prevent this from happening? Did any of the Mets vote? We also talked about some other non-controversial topics such as Pete Rose, Jose Reyes, and whether modern ballplayers are dressing correctly.
Obviously recorded before what happened to Griffin Canning. What the hell!!!!!!!!!! Like, what the hell!!!!!!!! (From my fancy seat I could see Pete Alonso supportively and calmly walk behind Griff to the dugout with the face of a sweet martyr, then turn around and say, "FUCK!" to himself. Yeah, agree!)

Let's go Mets—please. Please.

86. Get Well Jared Young, We Love You!
01:22:53|Uploading this in a hurry but let me tell you—we could not stop talking ball this week. And Producer Nathan surprised us with the wildest breakfast anybody's ever had. Stay tuned for chewing. Dave was the only one watching when Jared Young was concussed by Nolan McLean's kneecap and he was actually quite traumatized. Jared is the best and we love him so much. Please get well soon, Jared. Someone wrote to the mailbag to ask which Met is Snoopy (?) and we didn't address this on the air but Jared Young is Snoopy and the girls have been saying this for months. Let's go Mets!!

84. New York Should Have Three Baseball Teams Again
52:12|That's not really the main topic of the show but I'm trying something here with a little click-bait. Ellen, Dave, and Kait are back together this week and talking about MLB expansion, position players pitching, Mrs. Met's skin, and a Furry we ran into. Let's go Mets!
83. Juan Soto Believes There's a Chance
01:07:53|The dog days are over! It's September and Juan Soto is back. Oh, it's so good to see him. He is being delusional and he is wearing a Lisa Frank-style multi-hued neon leopard-print cap. Diva! Love you. This week on Hits Different, Dave and Kait say farewell to Luis Robert Jr. and welcome back to Swaggy V, who, as you may recall, conveniently broke his hand 1 week before the trade deadline. Our Mets! We're going to miss them so much. But WHO will be rooting for in the play-offs? We have some initial feelings but actually, I think we're open to pitches from the audience. Let us know who you will be cheering for (unless you will be cheering for the Phillies, Dodgers, Yankees, or Braves, which you should keep to yourself). Write to us at hitsdiffpodcast@gmail.comLet's go Mets!
82. Ladies' Night at the Ballpark (And Here)
51:35|We're without Dave this week, so it took 10 tries to turn the microphones on. Next week we'll be without Ellen, but plus Dave, and I'm sure we'll struggle with something else (probably our senses of style and joie de vivre). And the following week we'll be getting the band back together! Just letting you know so you can put it in your calendars. Coincidentally we ended up with reviews of Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium this week, so there's something for everyone even if you are a Yankees fan listening to this podcast (my mom). How did I (Kait) end up being the only one who had to eat the fish taco egg roll? Let's go Mets!
81. Meet the Mets' New Swiftie Bullpen
32:50|Apologies for the lateness of this pod, we had a small communication problem and Producer Nathan was unable to get into the files for several days. For my (Kait's) part, I have no idea what was discussed as I was out of town attending a gorgeous wedding in New Hampshire (with Producer Nathan and his cohort of North Carolina athletes). I'm going to guess Carson Benge was mentioned (angel!!) and Dave says there was discussion of Nate Lavender's warm-up song "Lavender Haze." I have no idea whether Ellen was brave enough to eat day-old "San Diego" themed fish taco egg roll. I can't wait to listen and find out!! Short one because they missed me, I assume. We'll be back soon with a full-lengther. Let's go Mets!!!!
80. Brett Baty Grand Slam
46:58|These Mets are not the same Mets they were a week ago—we have any number of random men to meet and to visit on David's Hometown Dates. Also, now that their season is so decidedly in the toilet, the Mets are stress-free, living large, and having a great time. BRETT BATY FIRST CAREER GRAND SLAM.Ellen, Kait, and Dave vaguely recap two weeks of baseball and discuss the Mets' new closer Kodai Senga, their new power-hitter Luis Torrens, and the semi-cancellation of a Mets prospect who briefly forgot about David Wright. No egg rolls were eaten in the past two weeks while we were on vacation, but Kait had about 500 croquettes in España, where she met just one person in a Mets hat and he didn't seem to know what the Mets were (the colors simply matched his barista uniform). If you can believe it, there are only 6 weeks left of the regular baseball season, and then what will we do? We'll miss these guys every single day. LGM!!
79. Last Week of These Particular Mets
59:13|This week on Hits Different, we answer the mailbag question that we attempted to answer last week before a technical problem intervened. Sorry!! We also learn why the sky is blue—thank you Listener Matteo. We're entering the dog days of summer, but that's okay. And soon, a bunch of our beloved Mets will be taken from us and redistributed throughout MLB, hopefully to teams we can bring ourselves to root for down the stretch. Do not send Tyrone to the Philadelphia Phillies!!! David Stearns I will find your house!!! PROGRAMMING NOTE: We're taking next week off to process the trade deadline together. (Actually Kait and Producer Nathan will be honeymooning on the continent.) We'll be back the following week to introduce all of the 19 and 21-year-olds who are soon to be New York Mets. LGM! <3
78. Would You Give a Child YOUR Home Run Ball?
01:04:25|On the way to the beach and no time to write a description for this episode. Um, the Mets beat the Phillies at their home. But only God knows what's in store for the rest of this cursed summer. Let's go Bart!
