272. Rant and Recap: Summer House Reunion Part 2 and RHORI S1E10
01:28:03||Season 3, Ep. 272First, a rant about the cowardly behavior and shocking scandal revealed in the Summer House Reunion Part 2. A scandal that continues to leave the world wondering how so many beautiful women got involved with the same mediocre little mustached man. Then, we get into another unhinged episode of Real Housewives of Rhode Island where Alicia's choice of words to describe her childhood, and JoEllen's attempt to play mediator, triggers Liz so much that she devolves into a possessed state. A chill evening to watch Rosie's husband do his best at singing turns into dinner theater and a soundtrack over whispered fighting, hair pulling, and chair scraping. Events that, in the aftermath, Liz denies ever occurred, leaving JoEllen (and everyone watching) feeling confused and gaslit. All opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. 271. Recap: RHORI S1 Episodes 8 and 9
01:21:49||Season 3, Ep. 271After questioning the catalyst behind the the blandest couple to ever cause a scandal on Bravo, as seen in Summer House Reunion Part 1 , we dive into recapping episodes 8 and 9 of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island. In episode 8 we see Alicia and her baggie of crackers weather Billy's pressure to overcome her driving anxiety, Kelsey setting up her new apartment while pondering her life and finances, Ashley again hoping Jared trades coffees for content, Jo-Ellen confronting her callous mother about her childhood (FYI I go TF off) , and Rosie's fixation on Kelsey's square footage comments and lifestyle derail their halfhearted efforts to connect. Episode 9 brought so much chaos and joy it ranks off the scales for classic episodes. Alicia finally confronts Billy about her stake in Pizza Mamma, but still can't bring herself to show Rulla the video, and I get the giggles watching the women fight and mock each other in the midst of a trivia game at Aud(b)rey's. 269. Review: Off Campus - Why Consent, Respect, and Trust Are Hot
01:18:56||Season 3, Ep. 269The week took an unexpected turn for the legions of people enrolling at fictional Briar University to join characters from a series of books written by Elle Kennedy. Her first book, The Deal, is the basis for the eight episodes of Off Campus Season 1, and it made the best of impressions. Upon first glance, the popularity of the series could be disregarded as another romcom or Young Adult novel trope, but anyone paying attention sees past that veneer. What this series does so well, what sets it apart, is how it makes clear the profound desire for consent, respect, and trust from leading men. It also refuses to conform to the usual normalization of competition and cruelty when two people find themselves attracted to the same person. You won't find women tearing each other down or centering men over their connections, instead, they offer support and positivity to each other in every interaction. Serious issues are handled with care and consideration as characters entering adulthood navigate who they want to be in light of how they were raised or what experiences they've had. Overall, the series feels like a big hug for people raised on classic romcoms, with nods to them along the way, but with a welcome fresh take that leaves problematic storylines where they belong, buried within dusty VHS tapes of the past. 267. Roasting the Broligarchy: Roasting the Broligarchy: Racism vs The Voting Rights Act, the Audacity of the Epstein Class, and the Illusion of Democracy
01:09:12||Season 3, Ep. 267A look into how Mother's Day illustrates the effective strategy to absorb and negate threats to the status quo. Then, how a recent decision by the majority of the United States Supreme Court Justices to deem Section 2 of The Voting Rights Act of 1965 "unconstitutional" is the latest step in a decades-long effort to compromise votes from minorities. Why the scariest thing about the Andes strain of the Hantavirus is how vulnerable the U.S. is with anti-vax, roadkill obsessed idiots in charge, and learning more about a road-tripping reality show starring our current Secretary of Transportation that highlights how tone deaf and indifferent this administration is as gas prices continue to soar. Lastly, how a new golden statue offers more grim insight into the Epstein files and the boldness of men who benefitted from sex trafficking.Check your voter registration, find your polling location, or contact your representatives via USA.GOV, VOTE.GOV, and/or the "5 Calls" app.All opinions are personal and not representative of any outside company, person, or agenda. 266. It Ends With Us: Part 21 - Betty Brands, Unsealed Texts, and the Settlement Switcheroo
01:23:37||Season 3, Ep. 266After Blake Lively's team filed to pursue legal action post-settlement, this pod took a turn. It now begins with the continuation of unsealed documents shared in the May 4 drop, but then pivots what Lively's legal team filed and how Justin Baldoni/Wayfarer's legal team just responded. The unsealed May 4 documents include new texts between Blake and Colleen Hoover, Blake and Liz Plank, Blake and Isabella Ferrer, as well as texts from Alex Saks and Ange Gianetti. Each set of texts further illustrates the different grievances and issues each woman had with production and/or Justin Baldoni. In the end, this case provided a valuable sneak peek into the movie and pr industries and served as a cautionary tale, regardless of profession, about how we treat each other and how we see ourselves. 265. It Ends With Us: Part 20 - The Settlement, New Texts, and Info from the May 1 Document Drop
01:11:23||Season 3, Ep. 265On Monday May 4th, the Lively and Baldoni legal teams announced a settlement. After 18 months, and two weeks before jury selection, the highly publicized battle is over - or is it? We review the settlement language and delve into myriad documents from the May 1 drop that I think contributed to the parties finally deciding to drop the issue. New texts and information from the May 1 document drop help to answer key questions and show why a trial would have been a spectacle of epic proportions, one that neither side would have benefitted from. Part 21 will be released later tonight that presents new information from the May 1 drop about Blake's business endeavors, as well as more texts and exchanges that paint a clearer picture of sentiments from the women on set. 264. Recap: RHOBH S15, Reunion Parts 1 & 2 (uncensored & extended versions)
01:06:12||Season 3, Ep. 264The main theme of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunions, thus far, is witnessing the remnants of the Fox Force Five dwindle by another member as Dorit completes her detachment from Erika and Kyle. Newbie Amanda is a favorite target for the group as they eagerly critique her perceived offenses while also displaying astronomical levels of hypocrisy. Boz and Amanda address digs made at each other, Kyle continues to mourn her marriage and postpone divorce, and Erika tries her hand at comedy with a bit about prioritizing heart and soul over materialism. Highlights include Kathy Hilton and Jennifer Tilly fulfilling their roles to add levity and personality to the room, and Kyle crashing out as she goes over a laundry list of past issues with Dorit.
