Heather Solves Everything - Living Your Boundaries During The Holidays w/ Glen Alex

Season 4, Ep. 25

Glen Alex is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Author of Living In Total Health, which won the Indie Book Award in 2021. She has a mission to help people be more joyful, connected, confident and complete. She is also the guiding spirit behind The Glen Alex Show, GlenAlex.com, Healthy Boundaries for Overwhelmed Women online course, and other services in fulfillment of her transformative mission.

Glen’s health journey began with boundaries. As a child, she was so engaged by the nuance of interaction—when people smiled, cringed, and when pain crossed their faces. She remembers vowing to not be the one to cause another person pain, unnecessarily. She saw boundaries respected and boundaries violated, and it stuck. From that, Glen developed a unique and no nonsense perspective to help others lead their healthiest and most joyful life.

In this episode, we discuss the four types of boundaries, five truths of boundaries, and how you can enjoy the holidays with just the right amount of whelm.

  • 26. Heather Solves Everything - Intuitive Eating Tips for Thanksgiving

    12:26||Season 4, Ep. 26
    It’s Thanksgiving week! And that means we’re officially in a time of year that I like to call Eating Season. And here at Heather Solves Everything, all of my coaching calls this week have been about intuitive eating, and how to get through the holidays without losing control around food. So I decided to put together a special episode just about that, and to offer up five things to think about as you approach the Thanksgiving table. The point of these five tips is to help you turn down the urgency and turn up the trust during the holidays. I want you to enjoy the scents and flavors of the season with your arms and hearts open wide, not feeling like you can only enjoy them within a controlled setting, or that there are some foods that you can’t have, or that you have to do some kind of penance for eating them. I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of blessings, including a feeling of partnership with yourself so you can relax, exhale, connect with your body, and make your first bite the best one. Intuitive eating is something that takes some time to learn and master, so don’t expect yourself to flip a switch and undo a lifetime of learned food rituals and self talk. And, if you’d like to learn more about intuitive eating, I’ll be offering a class that begins in January. It’s called Am I Hungry, and all of the tips today came from the class. I’ll be sharing more information about it on my website, HeatherSolvesEverything.com.

  • Heather Solves Everything - Discovering Strengths w/ Kevin Kepple

    35:27|
    Each week I try to bring you a show that sheds light on some of the universal issues that many of us overachievers face in life. Things like maximizing our potential, challenging our own status quo, figuring out how to balance work, life, and play. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, but we are always in a place of learning from each other. With that in mind, I have invited Kevin Kepple to the show today. He’s a Gallup-certified strengths coach, and I have questions about that. Kevin works with leaders, teaching them how to unlock their leadership code by leveraging their unique genius. Wouldn’t that be nice? Guess what, it's in there waiting for you. I’m also excited because Kevin and I share some common hobbies, including hiking, endurance sports, and being one of those super motivated and positive people in the world who want to help others feel alive and happy. Find Kevin:https://www.kevinkepple.us/https://www.instagram.com/kevinkepple/

  • 20. Heather Solves Everything - Beyond Positive Vibes with Ann Hince

    30:45||Season 4, Ep. 20
    I’m sure you’ve heard before, real change begins on the inside, and when it comes to transforming your entire life, it’s those internal shifts in perspective that can make space for a new way of living, thinking, and being. My guest today has become an expert in doing just that. Ann Hince has developed the ability to sense inside her body in ways that help her transform both her emotional and physical self. And when I first heard that, I was thinking the same thing you might be now. How can the way you perceive yourself change your physical self?She’s learned how to release physical tension stored in her connective tissue, using solely the focus of her mind, and she has x-rays to show the physical changes resulting from this inner work - including changing the alignment of her eye sockets, the straightening of her neck, the centering of her lower jaw, and the growth of her tooth roots. She has also grown 3/4 an inch at the age of 55. Ann wants us all to know that we have this incredible power within us, it just takes going further with practices that you may already be doing.
