From there, we dig into the NBA draft and what it means for the Warriors. Then, our young economist tackles the news of the day with an explainer on the trade wars and tariffs, before another intrepid reporter explores the thrill and fun of roller coasters. Next up, a Teen Talk segment showcases the slang, trends, and hot takes defining this summer, followed by our fashionistas hitting the runway with a look at what’s trending in style. We wrap things up with a little wanderlust: a travel inspiration segment featuring dream destinations.

In this special Summer Podcast Lab: Session 1 episode, our junior journalists tackle two very different stories: one fictional, one deeply personal.First up, our reporters turn the mic on themselves and community members for a reflection on the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the very first news memories many of these young people share. It's a glimpse into how a generation is already making sense of a moment that shaped their earliest years. Then, a creative whodunnit investigation into the (totally made-up, we promise) mystery of who set off the fire alarm at Piedmont Middle School. Grab your magnifying glass and get ready for twists, suspects, and a satisfying reveal.

The student journalists take the mic one last time this 2025-2026 school year to look back on everything that made the year unforgettable. They share their reflections, and they pause to say thank you to the teachers, staff, and helpers who cheered them on, answered their questions, and believed in their voices. It's a mini episode with a big heart, straight from the reporters who brought you Havens Happenings all year long. 

In this episode, we are celebrating Earth Day and all the ways we can take care of our planet, getting the scoop on the delicious Piedmont Food Fest, and diving into some big community news: the Piedmont Pool opening! Student journalists even sat down with Rec Department Director Chelle Putzer to get the inside story on what it takes to get a pool ready for the community. 

Student journalists explore the traditions behind Saint Patrick’s Day, share April Fool’s Day jokes with the important reminder to keep pranks kind and inclusive, and sit down with our school’s technology teacher, Ms. Lee, to discuss how technology is shaping student life. In this episode, our student hosts share a movie update, featuring two of the year's most popular movies, K-Pop Demon Hunters and Wicked: For Good.
