Episode Twenty: The Mystery of the Flying Express ft. Mike Marlow
01:18:35|SummaryIt's Episode 20: The Mystery of The Flying Express featuring Mike Marlow! This episode has obviously been a long time coming, and I want to thank all of our listeners for tuning back in. This podcast was so much fun to make, and who knows? Maybe someday we'll want to check back in with these idiot boys. I was so happy that Mike was able to be our guest for our final episode, it definitely book-ends the show well. This book is a particularly dumb one, with protestors, Chet in a dress and a criminal syndicate that talks about the zodiac a lot... for no reason. Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of this podcast, both guests and bartenders. Thank you to Taylor Trask and the Panelism network. Thank you to Danny Overby for our theme and my wife Kristen Hallstrom for our logo. Thank you most of all to my brother Jack Wefso who co-produced this show, ignited the original idea and helped keep it alive.Special Episode! Drunken Gumshoes Episode One
45:45|Detectives, I am thrilled to announce your next adventure. With the Hardy Boys Drinkbook coming to an end, The Drunken Gumshoes will be the podcast of choice for the drunken solving of mysteries made for children. My brother Jack (co-producer and frequent guest of this podcast) and my sister Faye (previous bartending special guest) will be exploring the other books and crannies of the adolescent adventure and mystery genre. If you've enjoyed the Hardy Boys inane adventures, I know you will enjoy The Drunken Gumshoes!28. Episode Eighteen: The Twisted Claw ft. Brian Kusic pt. 2
01:21:11||Ep. 28Here is part two of Episode 18: The Twisted Claw ft. actor Brian Kusic! Brian suggested one of his favorite haunts as our featured bar this week. I went to Gerard's Pool Hall in RiNo, in the alleyway between Walnut and Larimer. It's by Il Posto. Anyway, bartenders Darren Harris and Stephen Claustre made me a delicious drink called "The Railbird." It's made with vodka, aperol, fresh grapefruit and lime juice and a basil simple syrup. It's like a suger-bowl picnic in a glass. The pool hall is a big open space with a mezzanine overlooking six gorgeous tables. Antique photographs and furniture, collected by Gerard himself, decorate the open space. Jazz on Thursdays. It's a heck of a place. They were re-felting a table the first day I came in, and the noise was a little too much. I stopped by the next day and Stephen was kind enough to re-do the interview. Darren made the drink though, he deserves credit for that. Thanks to everyone listening. You are the wind beneath my biplane wings as the engine goes out over the Atlantic as we search for the lost pirate city and we're not going to make it but wait we're fine. I mean it. 49:55||Ep. 27It's Episode 18 of The Hardy Boys Drinkbook Podcast! It's "The Mystery of the Twisted Claw!"I'm so excited to finally have Brian Kusic as a guest on the show. Brian is an actor in Denver and one of my favorite people in the industry. He played multiple characters in an all ages show that wrote for Buntport for All Ages called "Siren Song: A Pirate Odyssey," but his best character was Toots God of Recorders. When I found out this next book had pirates in it, I knew exactly who to call. This episode was so good that it went too long for one episode, so I'm splitting it into two parts and putting the drink recipe in part 2.Keep checking back and thank you all so much for continuing to check in when we have a new episode. I have heard from some of you that the only thing that you don't like about the podcast is how rarely episodes come out. I hope you know how much that means to Jack and I, and that every listen makes this labor of love worth it.26. Episode Seventeen: The Secret Warning ft. Adrian Bishop

Jack Wefso pt. 2
51:15||Ep. 25Hey everybody! Here's part 2!My guest for this episode is my brother and co-producer Jack Wefso, an actor of great regard. This is an especially great book in my opinion, because it features something that the books have been sorely lacking: a gang with a gimmick! In this stupid and pointless adventure, we encounter The Goggler Gang. They wear nylon stockings over their faces and then put light-up goggles on over that. So they're functionally blind.Watch a great web series that I write and in which Jack stars! www.atanyrateshow.comMake sure to get your BINGO card ready to play along as you listen.(http://mfbc.us/m/mz3m7g)After staying up talking so late, you'll need something to both calm you down and keep you going. For this episode I thought an Irish Coffee recipe would be a good fit (and no, there's no blood in it.)Irish CoffeeMake a small pot of strong black coffeeAd a teaspoon of brown sugar to the bottom of a glass mugMix 1-2 ounces of room temperature Irish Whiskey with the brown sugar until it has mixed wellPour the black coffee into the mug and stir with a bar spoon. With the bar spoon, ladle a goodly amount of cold whipped cream on top.Try not to drink too many.Ride in an experimental hydrofoil boat! Get kidnapped to a surf... picnic? And almost murder a man with your car in: Episode Sixteen: A Figure in Hiding ft. Jack Wefso pt. 2!Next episode Adrian Bishop is coming back! I'm so psyched!24.
