Prologue

The Magician

When Calliope finds her long-lost Uncle Sydney, Ringmaster and part-owner of the Calibus Brothers' Circus, she also finds herself in the mysterious, fantastical, and often dangerous world of Sydney's business partner, the enigmatic Professor Paimon. With his troupe of otherworldly sideshow performers, Paimon assures Calliope that she will never be alone again. Will Calliope find the home and family she's been longing for? Or will she stay forever in the dark as a string of violent murders and unseen forces swirl around the man at the center of it all: Professor Paimon?

Chapter 1 Of Lost Things

Calliope continues her journey through the circus, considering her options and whether or not to stay. Along the way, she meets the beautiful and entrancing twin acrobats, Feodora and Feodossia, while Professor Paimon leaves her with more questions than answers.

Chapter 2 The Smoking Mirror

Calliope's worlds converge as she becomes Professor Paimon's assistant at a high society show. It soon becomes clear that the Professor is after more than the polite applause of the attendees.

Chapter 3 Mermaid Tears

As Calliope grapples with the aftermath of the Professor's unsettling "performance" at the party, she meets a few more of the fascinating performers of Halcyon and makes an emotional connection to the past.

Chapter 4: Part 1

Professor Paimon illuminates the past, present, and future for Sydney before securing a contract with New York's elite. Calliope's curiosity proves dangerous and could bring her journey to and untimely end.
