Grave Secrets
S2, E33: The Murder of Gareth Williams - Unsolved Case
Season 2, Ep. 33
•
This case is famous in British history, but again, another sadly in which the headlines are more well known than the victim’s name.
It is a shocking mystery that found its way back into the headlines after new progressions in DNA led to further testing...
- Matthew Puncher, died from knife wounds, had discovered the amount of polonium found inside murdered Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko.
- Russian whistle-blower Alexander Perepilichnyy died after collapsing while jogging near his luxury home in Weybridge, Surrey, UK, in November 2012. He had fled Russia in 2009 and was helping an investment firm expose a massive Kremlin-linked money-laundering operation.
- Former spy Alexander Litvinenko was killed in November 2006, leading to a clouding of relations between London and Moscow. After he was killed by radioactive polonium-210, believed to have been administered in a cup of tea, it emerged the father-of-one was being paid by the British secret service MI6.
- Boris Berezovsky, living in the UK but prior opposition to Putin, was found at his home, treated as ‘unexplained’ but staged suicide was not ruled out.
- Alex Chapman, husband of a British spy who revealed details about her life before being found dead from a drugs overdose.
- Scott Young , a UK citizen with ties to rich Russian exiles, who was found after falling to his death in London, but ruled as suicide.
