Mental illness is a topic that is still not getting enough attention despite having a huge impact on society. That makes it harder to address the serious, resulting problems, such as addiction and suicide.


In this episode, I am joined by Barbara Legere, an advocate for those suffering from substance use disorders, mental health issues, and grief. She is the author of the bestselling book “Keven’s Choice – A Mother’s Journey Through Her Son’s Mental Illness, Addiction, and Suicide.” She is also the co-author of the bestseller, “The Epiphanies Project – 20 Personal Revelations.” 


Throughout this episode, Barbara shares what inspired her to write her book after losing her son. She also shares the challenges that guardians caring for people with mental illnesses have to go through while seeking treatment. Additionally, she offers advice on interacting with people who have lost a loved one.

Finding Happiness When Grieving with Helene Hipp

Sometimes grieving people will feel sad when they find themselves laughing because they interpret it as forgetting about their loved one.In this episode, I am joined by Helene Hipp, an educator, grief and loss counselor, and mentor working with women in the second half of life to become who they were always meant to be. At the beginning of the pandemic, she became a certified Happiness Coach with Marci Shimoff’s Happy for No Reason program. Her business, Life’s Next Chapter, combines grief and happiness concepts in a positive, holistic way to assist women in opening to new possibilities. Throughout this episode, Helene shares why she decided to combine the concept of grief and happiness in her workshops. She also shares the importance of saying thank you to people after they help you.
