SHANIA TWAIN: SAVING MY FAMILY AT THIRTEEN

Season 1, Ep. 10

Let's Go Girls....

Overcoming grief, illness, heartbreak, sexism, losing her voice, Shania Twain is a cultural icon whose resilience is truly astonishing. Selling over 100 million albums worldwide, her story is one of fearlessness and strength.

Shania joins me to share her wisdom and optimism, always finding the silver lining in life. Growing up in a home marked by domestic violence, she reached a pivotal moment at her lowest point; choosing to never feel so miserable again, she convinced her mother to leave her father [18:45]. From there she eventually went on to becoming an international superstar, but not without much grief and hardship, losing both her parents in a car crash [36:02], she also opens up about learning to let go and forgive [32:52].

This episode reveals the human side of the pop star we know as Shania. And, of course, we could let her leave without finding out - what does impress her?

  • 10. TOM DAVIS: I Lost Friends When I Quit Alcohol - But This Is What It Taught Me

    01:10:02||Season 3, Ep. 10
    Tom Davis is one of the funniest people I know. We first met ten years ago on Murder in Successville, the hilarious BBC3 sitcom he co-created with his friend James De Frond. At the time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. What I didn’t realise then was just how much the show meant to Tom. Murder in Successville wasn’t just another job for him. It was a pivotal moment and there was so much riding on it. This conversation is a rollercoaster. I haven’t laughed that much in a long time - but it also reveals a side to Tom that goes far beyond the laughs. In this episode, Tom shares:Why he took a risk on me for the very first episode of Murder in SuccessvilleHow he desperately wanted to be a dad and feared it might not happenWhy he decided to go sober and what it’s taught him What Timothée Chalamet text him after the Critics Choice AwardsWhat happened when Tom was mistaken for Ed Sheeran’s bodyguard This conversation is a reminder that it’s not always a simple road to success - true success is a journey. Tom Davis is Great Company.Get tickets for Tom's 2026 tour, Spudgun HERE!If you enjoyed the show, you can also follow us: Instagram- @greatcompanypodcastTikTok - @greatcompanypodcast Jamie - @jamielaing And if you've got thoughts, questions and comments, you can email us at: greatcompany@jampotproductions.co.uk THE CREDITS Executive Producer: Ewan Newbigging-ListerProducer: Helen Burke & Jack ClaramuntAssistant Producer: Issy Weeks-HankinsVideo: Jake Ji & Josh BennettSocial Media: Laura CoughlanAudio: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Great Company is an original podcast from JamPot
