#230 Matty Acton — Radio Host, Social Media Star, Grandpa in his 30's!

Season 1, Ep. 230

Matty Acton is one of Australia’s most recognisable radio voices, a social media star with nearly one million followers, and one of the youngest grandpas you will ever meet.

In this episode of the Good Humans Podcast, I sit down with Matty to unpack his journey from growing up in regional Australia to becoming the co-host of Brisbane’s highest-rating breakfast radio show, Stav, Abby & Matt on HIT 105. We talk about the reality of working in mainstream media, building a personal brand online, and how humour and authenticity have played a huge role in his success.

Matty also opens up about family, fatherhood, and what it has been like stepping into the role of being a grandparent in his 30s. It is a conversation full of laughs, perspective, and some surprisingly grounding lessons about staying present and not taking life too seriously.

This episode is a great reminder that success does not have to come at the cost of connection, and that sometimes the most important roles we play happen off air.

In this episode, we cover:
  • Growing up and finding confidence early in life
  • Matty’s journey into radio and building a long-term career in media
  • Life behind the scenes of breakfast radio on HIT 105 Brisbane
  • Creating content online and staying authentic on social media
  • Becoming a dad and a grandparent in his 30s
  • Balancing work, family, and mental wellbeing
  • What Matty would spend 14 minutes a day on for his mental health
  • The importance of gratitude, humour, and perspective

If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to share it with someone who loves a laugh but also appreciates real conversations about life and family.
