#226 — Blue Minds Special Bonus Episode: Live from COP30 in Belém, Brazil - United Nations Climate Change Conference
This special bonus episode comes to you live from COP30 in Belém, Brazil, where Kal Glanznig and I are on the ground representing Blue Minds, Surfers for Climate and The Good Human Factory. After more than fifty hours of travel to get here, it has been incredibly inspiring to immerse ourselves in the global climate movement and witness so many passionate leaders working together for the future of our planet.
This episode is split into three parts to give you a real behind the scenes look at what COP is, why we are here and the powerful conversations happening inside the Australian Pavilion.
We kick things off by breaking down what COP actually is, the scale of this global climate conference and why bringing climate and mental health voices together is so important. We share our intentions for being here with Surfers for Climate and how this experience is shaping our perspective on community, responsibility and the urgent need for action.
You will then hear our live podcast recorded inside the Australian Pavilion featuring powerful voices from across the Pacific and the world.
Our guests include:
- Mesepele Lauti (Tuvalu) @mese94_
- Xiye Bastida (Mexico) @xiyebeara
- Luna Lomitusi (Samoa) @luna_lomitusi
Together, we discuss youth leadership, climate justice, cultural resilience and what it means for communities on the front lines of the climate crisis. It is raw, hopeful and a reminder of why these conversations matter so much.
To finish, Kal sits down with Argentinian climate leader Nikki Becker @nickibecker for a powerful one on one chat about activism, lived experience and the role of young people in shaping a better future.
This episode captures the energy, urgency and unity we have felt here at COP30 and we hope it inspires you as much as these conversations have inspired us.
If you enjoy this episode, please share it with a friend and help spread these important voices.
A special thanks to Surfers for Climate - @surfersforclimate and RACQ @racqofficial for helping us get over here to learn these vital lessons :)

236. #236 Josh Levey — One month. 7,000 Waves. $100,000 Raised. One Big Purpose.
58:08||Season 1, Ep. 236In this episode I’m joined by Newcastle surfer Josh Levey, who set himself a challenge that sounds almost impossible… surf 7,000 waves in one month. But this wasn’t about records or attention. It was about purpose.Josh took on the challenge to raise money and awareness for Soul Hub, a local homelessness charity supporting people doing it tough in his community. By the end of the month he’d raised over $100,000 and inspired thousands of people along the way.We talk about his upbringing and relationship with the ocean, the moment he realised he wanted to use surfing for something bigger than himself, and how a simple idea turned into a movement.Josh also opens up about the reality behind the highlight reel. The exhaustion, injuries, mental battles, early mornings, cold water, and the discipline it took to keep showing up every single day. What stood out most was how purpose can carry you further than motivation ever will.We finish by chatting about what the experience taught him about gratitude, perspective and community, and where he wants to take this impact next. This is a conversation about using what you love to help others, pushing your limits for a meaningful reason, and how one person’s commitment can ripple through an entire community. In this episode we cover: • Why Josh decided to surf 7,000 waves in 30 days • The link between purpose and mental resilience • The toughest physical and mental moments of the challenge • What he learned about homelessness through Soul Hub • The power of community support and accountability • What comes next after achieving something this bigIf you’ve ever wondered how small daily actions can turn into real impact, you’ll love this one.Follow JoshINSTAGRAMDonate to his record surf!Send @thegoodhumanfactory a DM on Instagram saying "I wanna join the club" to join our FREE mindfulness and gratitude accountability community :)1% Good Club Book!!The Good Human FactoryAmazonBooktopiaCooper's SocialsInstagramTikTokThe Good Human Factory LinksInstagramWebsiteMerch – Use code PODCAST for 25% OFFWorkshop EnquiryTHE GOOD HUMAN FACTORY™️ 2020
235. #235 Nigel Beach — Simple Home Changes That Help You Feel Calm Again.
57:55||Season 1, Ep. 235In this episode I’m joined by Nigel Beach and we explore how much our environment shapes our mental state. We often try to think our way into feeling better, but our nervous system responds first to what we sense. Light, temperature, hydration, and contact with nature all send signals to the body about whether we are safe or under threat. When we change those inputs, our state naturally follows. This conversation is full of simple, practical ideas you can apply straight away at home. Nothing extreme, just small adjustments that help your body spend more time calm, clear and present. We talk about hydration and how H2O affects energy and mood, why modern lighting can keep the brain alert at the wrong times, and how sauna and cold exposure build resilience rather than stress. We also dive into grounding and why reconnecting to natural signals helps regulate the nervous system. The big message from this episode is that regulation is not only a mindset practice. It is something we can design into our daily life.In this episode we cover: • What nervous system regulation actually feels like day to day • How your home can either support recovery or keep you wired • The impact of hydration on focus, mood and energy • Lighting habits that improve sleep and recovery • Sauna and cold exposure as resilience training for the body • Grounding and reconnecting to nature • Small environmental changes that create lasting calmIf you enjoy this episode, share it with someone who would benefit and let us know your biggest takeaway 💛Follow NigelINSTAGRAMSend @thegoodhumanfactory a DM on Instagram saying "I wanna join the club" to join our FREE mindfulness and gratitude accountability community :)1% Good Club Book!!The Good Human FactoryAmazonBooktopiaCooper's SocialsInstagramTikTokThe Good Human Factory LinksInstagramWebsiteMerch – Use code PODCAST for 25% OFFWorkshop EnquiryTHE GOOD HUMAN FACTORY™️ 2020
