Kingsway concerns, small business wish list & wear a hat day

Ep. 21

The runway tunnel finally opened! It felt like quite a moment on GBC Television in the early hours of Friday morning - ‘ambientaso’ is how Jonathan Scott summed it up - from Kingsway - in the live broadcast. How has it worked in practice? Gibraltar Today had an update on rush hour from the police, from Beach View Terraces residents and GBC reporter Jonathan Sacramento was in the studio.

The Federation of Small Businesses has published a wish-list ahead of the general election. Owen Smith told us the GFSB wants to make Gibraltar an attractive place to do business, while keeping costs and bureaucracy down as much as possible.

And, we celebrated ‘Wear a hat day’ to raise awareness and funds for research into brain tumours. James and Fabiola Culatto joined us and discussed their memories of their brother Rory.

Thank you for listening to the Gibraltar Today podcast.

Former Police Federation Chairman, Maurice Morello, has told the McGrail Inquiry he attempted to submit a complaint against the former Commissioner. He says he was told by the Police Authority there was no mechanism in place to submit a bullying claim. The meeting however was never recorded or minuted, and the GPA denies it took place. Jonathan Sacramento had the details.Members of the European Scrutiny Committee in the UK Parliament have again expressed alarm over arrangements for entry and exit of Gibraltar being discussed in the Treaty negotiations. Michael Llamas KC accepted that - in hindsight - an angry meeting between himself, the Chief Minister and the Commissioner of Police should NOT have happened. Mr Llamas accepted he didn't ask himself: maybe I shouldn’t be in the room for this.
