5. Just Chatting with the Gankers: Chaos, Clickers & Class Drama
01:11:51||Season 3, Ep. 5It’s that time again—every few episodes, the Gankers crew puts aside the guides and raid strats for a full-on fireside hangout. No agenda, no structure—just a bunch of Classic WoW addicts letting loose with chaos, hot takes, and some deep-cut MMO theory. This “Just Chatting” episode features Alth, Holy, Darth, Viewing, Bobby, Ben, and one glorious quote from Marm. What starts as a chill catch-up quickly spirals into hardcore death confessions, class deletions, gold sink proposals, and plenty of retail slander. We kick off with hardcore stories. Panic deaths in Hillsbrad. Twitch streams that were basically death bait. One crew member dies to a mob he can’t name—but knows it has two weapons and zero mercy. “Sometimes you forget you’re Horde,” someone admits. Skill issues were had. No one is safe. Then comes the firestarter: “What’s the most overrated raid in WoW?” Answer: Icecrown Citadel. Sure, Lich King is iconic. But the trash? The pacing? The 13 filler bosses? “Homework,” one person called it. The group agrees—it’s nostalgic, not fun. ICC gets cooked.Next, we ask the unholy question: If you could delete one class forever, which one goes?Mages: “Always viable. Always smug.”Paladins: “The bubble is criminal.”Shamans: “Walk up and delete you.”Shadow Priests: “You're a priest. Heal.”One story even involves kicking a Shadow Priest from a dungeon for refusing to heal. Ruthless? Yes. Honest? Also yes.Class creation gets weird too. We pitch a gnome-only Combat Medic with rocket boots and energy domes. Bards and Dancers get a nod, but not everyone’s into getting buffed by male performers. It’s Gankers logic. Don’t question it.From there we pivot—hard—into WoW gold inflation and how to fix it. Some ideas are memes (ERP for gold, 1v1 arena gambling), but some are genius:Remove the auction house and add city vendors selling fixed-price consumablesPrestige titles and cosmetic rewards for gold sinksReal profession-based costs that matterWeekly in-game lotteries to drain excess goldAnd yeah, someone suggested “Show me the money” cheat codes.Other games show up too:Project Ascension: Wild classless fun, kind of like a prequel to Season of DiscoveryFinal Fantasy XIV: Bards, Dancers, actual class creativityProject Epoch: Private server with meme-worthy patch notesMoP Remix: Some of us are playing it. Some of us hate pandas. Classic WoW still wins. The final minutes bring out the hot takes:Clickers vs. keybinders (don’t be a clicker)Rewrite one WoW storyline? Sylvanas gets deleted. So does late-game Garrosh.Should raids be hard? Some say yes for challenge, others just want loot and vibes. This is peak Gankers. No notes. No script. Just good times, chaotic energy, and the type of Classic WoW talk you’d hear in voice chat at 1 a.m.🎧 Listen now on YouTube or Spotify 💬 Drop your hottest take in the comments—we’ll roast it next time. 4. Boosting in Classic WoW: Broken System or Necessary Shortcut?
53:58||Season 3, Ep. 4In this explosive episode of the Gankers Podcast, we dive deep into one of the most divisive topics in World of Warcraft Classic: boosting. Whether you’ve paid 10g to get dragged through Stockades or debated the ethics of Blizzard’s level 58 boost, you’ve been touched by the boost meta — and we’re here to break it all down.Join Alth, Holyhulkster, Viewing, and Darth as they explore the evolution of boosting from casual favor to full-blown in-game economy. We’re talking mage pulls, booster cartels, bot farms, Blizzard’s monetization schemes, and the surprising upside of skill-based pulls.💬 Key moments and themes:“Are you not entertained?” — Alth kicks us off with a wink and a jab.Holyhulkster explains the nuts and bolts of mage and paladin dungeon boosting.Darth talks about burnout, alt inflation, and why boosting became a necessity.Viewing shares inside stories of the underground boosting economy — including whisper threats and cartel reporting rings. We explore how Blizzard simultaneously nerfs in-game boosting while selling official character boosts… for $60 a pop.Recounting the wild days of 2019 with follow macros, AoE-cleave exploits, and Maraudon science.Bots, stolen credit cards, and VPN manipulation — Viewing exposes the real machinery behind constant dungeon spam. The artistic side of boosting? Darth shares why for some, it’s less about gold and more about mastery. We also ask:Does boosting ruin the leveling experience?Should Blizzard embrace or eliminate it?And what’s the real difference between a skilled AoE pull… and a paid dungeon drag?🔥 Whether you’re a Classic purist, a gold-hoarder, or just someone who’s been “INV PLZ” spammed in Stormwind — this episode delivers real insights with plenty of spicy takes.🎧 Available now on Spotify, YouTube, and wherever you get your podcasts. 📱 Follow us at gankerspodcast.com and join the Discord to be part of the conversation.#GankersPodcast #WoWClassic #BoostingMeta #MMOeconomy #WoW
3. Endgame Burnout: When Fun Turns into Fatigue
46:23||Season 3, Ep. 3In this episode of Gankers Podcast, Alth and Holy dive deep into a truth MMO players rarely say out loud: sometimes logging in feels more like a job than a joy. You still show up, you still raid, but somewhere along the way, the spark fades. This week, the guys explore what happens when the game stops being fun—and why so many players feel quietly burned out but keep playing anyway.Alth kicks things off with a moment many listeners will relate to: logging in, checking his mailbox, flying to Orgrimmar… and logging right back off. Not because he had something else to do—but because there was nothing worth doing. Holy admits to the same feeling—floating through Cataclysm content, waiting on boosts, wondering why he’s still there. It’s not about hating the game. It’s about not knowing why you’re playing anymore. What unfolds is an honest conversation about MMO fatigue, especially in endgame. The content treadmill, the checklist dailies, the raids that no longer excite—it all stacks up. And the burnout isn’t loud. It’s quiet. Creeping. Routine. The guys reflect on how endgame structures train players to log in out of obligation, not desire. “It’s like we’re going through the motions,” Holy says, and Alth agrees: “I’m not even bored. I’m just… flat.”They talk raid burnout, too. The pressure, the scheduling, the social toll. When your guild becomes your second job and progression wipes out your patience, the reward loop starts to crumble. And when you step away from that identity—when you’re no longer “the raid leader” or “the tank”—you’re left asking: what’s left?Another key thread: how World of Warcraft ruins other games. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s too good at training player brains. Alth confesses he can’t play other MMOs anymore. The pacing feels off. The design feels wrong. Even if the content is decent, it’s not WoW, and that creates a weird sense of loss when trying new titles. It’s like being nostalgic for something you’re tired of.But this isn’t just doom and gloom. The episode digs into how players can rediscover joy—through alts, rerolling, exploring low-pressure content, or just goofing off with friends. Alth and Holy reflect on how community, not content, often holds people in MMOs. Even when the gameplay gets stale, the people and memories keep you around. They also address something bigger: is it the games that changed, or are we just older? More responsibility, less time, higher expectations—it all contributes to how we perceive the grind. Maybe MMOs didn’t lose their magic. Maybe we just outgrew it… or maybe we need to engage differently to find it again.Throughout the episode, the hosts challenge players to think about their habits, their social connections, and whether the nostalgia is helping or hurting. If you’ve ever hovered over the “unsubscribe” button, or stared blankly at your character screen for longer than you’d like to admit, you’ll feel seen here. This episode is for the disillusioned raiders, the tired veterans, and the hopeful returners. It’s for anyone who loves MMOs but doesn’t know how to love them right now. There are no easy answers—but this conversation might help you figure out where to go next.🎧 Listen now and find more at gankerspodcast.com 📺 Watch episodes on YouTube 🐦 Follow us on socials: @gankerspodcast
2. Classic+ Reimagined: More Than Just Endgame
01:08:42||Season 3, Ep. 2Welcome back to Gankers — the podcast where real players drop real takes on the soul of World of Warcraft. In Episode 2 of Season 3, Classic+ Reimagined: More Than Just Endgame, your hosts Alth and Holy sit down with longtime guildmates and MMO veterans Ben and Quigon to ask a massive question: What if Classic+ wasn’t just more raids? This isn’t just another wishlist episode. It’s a grounded, brutally honest discussion about the systems, philosophies, and community dynamics that could make or break a reimagined Classic. We talk about:🧭 Leveling Reworked Holy wants leveling to feel organic and immersive, while Alth proposes New Game+ and account-wide bonuses. Quigon argues for smarter XP pacing and social friction, while Ben wants immersive, story-driven zones like Wrathgate brought into Classic.🗺️ Expanding the World More zones, subzones, and dungeon scaling options. What if Sunken Temple, Deadmines, and other classics had heroic or Mythic versions at 60? Replayability and zone relevance could finally fix obsolete content.⚔️ World PvP That Matters Holy and Quigon propose faction control mechanics with world buffs, elite guard spawns, and economic/resource perks tied to territorial dominance — think EPL towers meets Conquest Points. Emergent gameplay with real stakes.🛡️ Community-First Systems We dive into ideas for social design: group scaling, dungeon level-syncing, and rewards that let friends play together regardless of level. Holy suggests MacGuffin coins to guarantee rare loot over time — no more endless Hodge runs.📚 Narrative & Lore Classic left huge stories untold. Why is Malfurion idle in Moonglade? Who’s C’Thun, really? We explore how Classic+ could bring meaningful story arcs to life, creating Ashbringer-level questlines across the world.💬 Retail vs Classic: What’s Worth Keeping? Ben wants Mythic+. Alth just wants shiny graphics with Classic soul. Holy and Quigon want smart systems that enhance the world, not remove you from it. Dungeon Finder, heirlooms, and modern quality-of-life — only if they serve the experience.🔥 Key Questions Raised:Who is Classic+ really for — veterans, newcomers, or both? How do you balance immersion with convenience? Can Blizzard outpace private servers like Turtle WoW?What gets you logging in every day?Classic+ isn’t just more content — it’s about rethinking why we play. This episode brings sharp insight, grounded MMO knowledge, and nostalgia from players who’ve seen it all — from Final Fantasy XI and SWTOR to Wrath and Retail.🎧 Whether you're a raider, roleplayer, or just miss the world being the main character — this one’s for you.🗨️ Got thoughts on what Classic+ should look like?
