This week we explore the novel 'Sing, Unburied, Sing' by Jesmyn Ward. A deep, mystical and meaningful portrait of a family burdened by the past, present & future while they protect their dying grandmother from the ghost of a dead inmate. Winner of the National Book Award (2017), Jesmyn Ward blistered my brain in this book. We analyze the characters, the themes and the meaning. A poignant look at American culture through the lens of a magical realist journey powered by drugs, voodoo spiritualism, and the power of two young kids in Southern Mississippi. Phew.
