Fuent Chat with Johnny Fuent
Tears of the Azure Sea Review
This week, I’m reviewing That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea, and somehow… Gobta ended up being the MVP of the entire movie. What started off feeling like another random non-canon anime film actually turned into a surprisingly fun ride with better stakes, solid action, and a focus on characters that normally don’t get much attention.
I talk about why this movie worked better for me than the last Slime film, why making Rimuru less involved actually helped the story, and how the movie handled its villains, the Aqua Dragon, and Gobta’s unexpected spotlight.
I also dive into the wild world of anime movie canon, why so many anime movies feel disconnected from their actual series, and why franchises like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Chainsaw Man all approach movies completely differently.
So if you’ve ever finished an anime movie wondering, “Wait… was any of that canon?”… this episode is definitely for you.
