He broadcasts a daily evangelical radio program on stations worldwide through his Turning Point Ministries, which he founded in 1982. He’s written numerous books on theology topics such as the rapture. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994 & 1998. In 1999, a nodule was surgically removed from his neck & he underwent stem cell transplant therapy. ••• Dangers of Quenching Holy Spirit Ep 352 . ••• Bible Study Verses: 1 Thessalonians 5.12-22, 1 John 4, Johne 16.13, Jeremiah 29.11, Hosea 4.6, 1 Timothy 4.14, Romans 12.2 . “The pampering of the flesh, is the quenching of God's spirit”, Thomas Watson 1620-1686, An English, non-conformist, Puritan preacher & author. Educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was noted for remarkably intense study. In 1646 he commenced a sixteen year pastorate at St. Stephen's, Walbrook. He showed strong Presbyterian views during the civil war, with, however, an attachment to the king, & in 1651 he was imprisoned briefly with some other ministers for his share in Christopher Love's plot to recall Charles II of England. He was released on 30 June 1652, & was formally reinstated as vicar of St. Stephen's Walbrook. He obtained great fame & popularity as a preacher until the Restoration, when he was ejected for nonconformity. Not withstanding the rigor of the acts against dissenters, Watson continued to exercise his ministry privately as he found opportunity. Upon the Declaration of Indulgence in 1672 he obtained a license to preach at the great hall in Crosby House. After preaching there for several years, his health gave way, & he retired to Barnston, Essex, where he died suddenly while praying in secret. Although a Baptist, he was Pastor of the 1st Presbyterian Church on W. 12th St & then at the historic, interdenominational Riverside Church inNYC. A central figure in the conflict between fundamentalist & liberal forces within American Protestantism in the 1920s& 1930s. He saw the history of Christianity as one of development, progress, & gradual change. To the fundamentalists, this was rank apostasy,& the battle lines were drawn. Fosdick was an outspoken opponent of racism & injustice. Fosdick's sermons won him wide recognition, as did his nationally broadcast RADIO addresses. He authored numerous books, & many of his sermon collections are still in print.
