Flying Blind Podcast

It is third time lucky for Benny and Dan ‘Wardy' Ward as they had a couple of false starts before finally getting this chat in the book. Wardy brings unreal energy and has the story to match. He runs us through the moment he got hit by an out of control truck and the impact it has had on the rest of his life. The boys share tales of trekking Kokoda as Wardy is recently back from his first adventure to PNG, spotting different coloured cars and pumping out 30,000 push ups in 1 month. There is some great stuff in here for everyone around harnessing positive energy, strengthening your mindset and the importance of checking in on your own tyre pressure. Enjoy legends! Benny has just rolled back in from a very wet and muddy Deni Ute Muster and has definitely seen better days and Ames is pumped as the NRL Grand Final is on in the background as she cheers on her beloved Newcastle Knights while we record this week’s episode. There’s been plenty happening over the past couple of week’s kicking off with a huge few days on the Gold Coast for Podcast Royale 3.0 with plenty of tales to tell from the hectic lead up, the fight night itself, the after party, a ripper Sunday sesh and so many highlights catching up with the legends that we got to meet! Ames nearly turned this into the Newcastle Knights Supporters Podcast as she had plenty of details about their history and success 25 years so the question is has she just jumped on the band wagon or does she really bleed red and blue? Benny has been line dancing, featuring in music videos and getting his boots muddy at Deni with plenty of mates. Wrapping up this week, the fact October is Mental health month has caught our eye so make sure you do something to look after yourself and your mates this October because before we know it the silly season will be upon us. Enjoy legends. While on the Gold Coast for Podcast Royale 3.0, you get to meet some absolute legends. On night 1 Benny got the invite to jump into the Reuben’s Ranch limo that has been converted into a mobile podcast studio for plenty of laughs and yarns and then we switched it up for a very different interview with Reuben the next day. Benny went into this one thinking that he and Reuben from DMW would be talking all things 4x4’s, outdoor adventures and chopping cars in half to put trays on them, turns out he was very wrong! From growing up in a family that struggled to make ends meet and caring for his sister with disability, to having his world changed forever when his wife and mother of his two children had an accident resulting in an acquired brain injury. This has changed not just Reubens life but his families and he shares so openly how it continues to have an impact and that at the moment things are pretty bloody tough. Chopping cars in half does get a mention as well as the huge benefit that has come as a by product of starting his own podcast, Reubens Ranch, which leads them to sharing a pretty exciting idea they have come up for 2027! One of our great mates Ronald John Tully the III drops in for a yarn while he is in the big smoke for the NFL. We cover growing up on the coast, making the big decision to pack up and move out west, becoming a ‘Seaweed Cowboy’, and his impeccable record of getting through 100% of the shit days. Tully also brings a very special gift for Benny, a custom made 7 man blind fold championship belt that will be carried out and up for grabs at the Podcast Royale 3.0 on the 26th of September where Benny will be defending his title from last year and now his newly acquired belt as well!  Do yourself a favour and grab a ticket to the Podcast Royale 3.0 being held on the Gold Coast on the 26th of September and cheer on Benny as he defends his belt: https://alpha-events.com.au/ Join Flight Club, the Flying Blind Facebook Community group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1047936994280199/ Get around Flying Blind on socials: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flyingblindpodcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/people/Flying-Blind-Podcast/61580557913440/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@flyingblindpodcast If you’ve got a question, guest suggestion or just want to get in touch, we’d love to hear from you! Benny and Ames catch up on everything they have been up to lately, however they have to start with Benny’s big burnt lip! Turns out 30 seconds in the microwave is way too long to reheat a hot jam donut as benny found out the hard way. There was a rescue mission at a local festival as well as smoking meat, off chicken and a new addition to the backyard for Fathers Day. This week’s addition of ‘what caught your eye’ focused in on RUOK? Day this Thursday the 9th of September and the importance of thinking about your answer to the question and what else we can add to the question itself so it’s not so easy to answer without thinking.  Thanks again to everyone who got around our first merch pre sale, we bloody love all of you!  If your keen on joining Ben at a Night In The Hills at Riot Tallace on Friday the 18th of September, you can grab your tickets here- https://www.ryeattallis.com.au/whats-on  Get along to the Gold Coast on the 26th of September for Podcast Royale 3.0 and cheer on Benny as he jumps back into the ring in the 7 man blind fold fight representing the Flying Blind Podcast and our amazing community! https://www.alpha-events.com.au/   Join Flight Club on Facebook! In this week’s episode of Flying Blind Ben sits down with drifter & dad, Tate Lindstrom, AKA the ‘One Arm Bandit’. Tate was born with one arm that wasn’t fully formed and even though it was a shock to his parents initially with a ‘can do’ attitude and plenty of trial and error, there hasn’t been much in the world of motorsport that Tate hasn’t had a crack at. Whether it was go karts, motorcross or his current passion, drifting, Tate’s approach has always been that thinking outside the box combined with plenty of hours in the shed makes pretty much anything possible!
