01:00:44|Adam and Jordan have reached episode five of First Time for Everything! (0:25) This week, they’re joined by guest Poppy Hillstead. (2:25) Adam kicks off the interview with Poppy discussing the first time they got drunk and explaining how the cultural differences might impact their stories. (4:25) Turns out Poppy’s first time getting drunk involved The Matrix on DVD, (6:52) and that Jordan’s experience was, indeed, VERY different. (11:15) Poppy also shares an experience on a ferry headed to Amsterdam, (12:48) before Adam chimes in with how his first time corresponds to when his parents started going away leaving him home alone. (14:20) Poppy also regales us with the story of the most “hellish house party” she attended. (16:18) Adam has a realization that neighbors hate house parties, (24:17) before asking Jordan if American university experiences are just like the films. (27:17) They go on to discuss the alcohol they can’t even stand to look at anymore, (37:35) before considering if they would change anything if they could go back and do their first time again. (41:15) Adam and Jordan wrap things up with thanks to Poppy Hillstead (44:40) and their weekly challenges (46:12).Be sure to follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts so you can be the FIRST to know when new episodes are released! To get in touch you can follow us on twitter or email us at ftfepod@gmail.comFor more on Poppy:TwitterPodcastInstagramWebsiteFor more on Adam:Pod Bible MagazineHardest Part of the Ring PodcastTwitterFor more on Jordan:Don’t Talk To Me About Work PodcastWebsiteTwitterInstagramPodcast artwork by Katie BurkMusic by Funkle Albert#004: First time I made a podcast w/ Sangeeta Pillai
55:35|Adam and Jordan bring you episode four of First Time For Everything! (0:25) They introduce their guest this week, Sangeeta Pillai. (2:48) Sangeeta kicks off talking about the first time she made a podcast - which she didn’t even know what one was at first! (3:50) She discusses hosting and how she refills her well to create a safe space for her guests to be vulnerable. (6:21) Happenstance played a role in how Sangeeta ended up starting her podcast, (8:45) and the role that the Spotify Sound Up competition played in her journey. (11:24) But once she won the competition, how much help did Sangeeta really have to launch Masala Podcast? (17:31) It took Sangeeta a year after the competition to get Masala Podcast launched, and she explains that making something that was important to her and that she could be proud of was key. (19:57) Sangeeta discusses the imposter syndrome she had to navigate when she launched the podcast. (22:15) Her relationship with her audience has been beautiful, and it’s what keeps her going. (27:27) Sangeeta shares how winning at the British Podcast Awards two years in a row has been a boost for her personally, (30:17) and she offers some advice about starting your own podcast. (34:10) Adam and Jordan wrap things up with thanks to Sangeeta Pillai (41:26) and their weekly challenges. 59:58|Adam and Jordan return with episode three of First Time For Everything! (0:25) They discuss how wonderful it was to chat with Jamie Coletta last week (1:14) and then they introduce this week’s hilarious guest, Rich Wilson. (2:40) Rich spoke this week about the first time he was on a plane. (4:16) Adam and Rich contemplate if anything else quite combines the particular exhileration and horror that we get from flying (8:55) before Jordan explains how she copes with her flying anxiety. (11:20) Rich pontificates on landing and how no one explains the sensation of hitting the ground, (14:08) and how no matter how many times someone explains how flight works, we never really understand it. (18:15) Rich also shares stories of doing gigs abroad and being on military planes. (20:45) Adam talks about bringing his baby daughter on a plane (26:15) Okay, but how fast are your particles flying when you’re on a plane? (30:15) And then things get really weird and the three start talking about cannibalism and crashing into mountains. (33:12) Jordan finally stops the madness to talk about films and famous stories about plane crashes. (37:17) Finally, Rich tells us what he’d do differently about his first time flying (45:39) Adam and Jordan wrap things up with thanks to Rich Wilson (47:05) and weekly challenges (48:00). 01:02:57|[WARNING: there are some chewing sounds from Adam’s weekly challenge from 54:45 - 55:27 and 56:27 - 56:45] Adam and Jordan are back with episode two of First Time For Everything! (0:25) They reflect on last week’s episode with Scroobius Pip (1:10) before introducing their guest this week, Jamie Coletta who talks about the first time she started her own business. (2:30) The interview starts off with an introduction to when Jamie got into the music business and a trip down emo-music memory lane. (3:10) Jamie then explains how she ended up striking out on her own (11:22) and then her and Adam wax poetic about office supplies and furniture. (16:25) Adam then questions whether Jamie ever wanted to hire other people and work collaboratively, or if she wanted to be a one-person show. (22:36) Jordan asks a very convoluted question about how Jamie’s perspective might have changed on remote work from being a parent. (27:30) As a parent himself, Adam asks Jamie how she switches off from work (31:00) Jordan gets super stoked on the bands Jamie works with and they recommend music to Adam. (36:10) Adam recommends that people starting a new business consider doing it with a group, and Jamie counters that if that doesn’t feel right to consider having some people you can still ask for help. (42:45) Finally, Adam asks Jamie if there’s anything she would do differently if she could go back and do her first time again. (47:35) Adam and Jordan wrap things up with thanks to Jamie (48:45) and check in with their weekly challenges (51:40)Be sure to follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts so you can be the FIRST to know when new episodes are released! To get in touch you can follow us on twitter or email us at ftfepod@gmail.comFor more on Jamie Coletta:TwitterNo Earbuds TwitterNo Earbuds WebsiteNo Earbuds PlaylistFor more on Adam:Pod Bible MagazineHardest Part of the Ring PodcastTwitterFor more on Jordan:Don’t Talk To Me About Work PodcastWebsiteTwitterInstagramPodcast artwork by Katie BurkMusic by Funkle Albert#001: First time I used a stage name w/ Scroobius Pip
01:01:36|Adam and Jordan introduce you to themselves and their new show, First Time For Everything! (0:25) Then, they introduce their first ever guest, Scroobius Pip who talks about the first time he used a stage name. (4:02) They kick off by discussing if people assume Scroobius Pip is his real name (5:00), and the first time he used it - which had nothing to do with music! (6:53) Then, they delve into where the name “Scroobius Pip” actually comes from, poetry fans rejoice! (10:30) Pip shares how it was the first time he used the name while performing (17:20) and what his plan was when he started touring (25:50). The gang covers the birth of Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip (29:50) and a case of mistaken identity (31:16). Pip even asks Jordan about previously being known as “The Lady J” (42:09) and asks Adam about his Twitter handle being…confusing. (46:00) Then things get REALLY wild and raucous [warning for some fruity language] (48:20) before Pip tells us what he’d do differently if he could re-live his first time. (50:00) Adam and Jordan wrap things up and Jordan talks about meeting Pip for the first time. (52:35) Finally, Adam and Jordan kick off their first weekly challenge - you won’t want to miss how it turned out!
