  • 8. The Intelligence Officer Who Talks to Spirit Guides

    51:45||Season 2026, Ep. 8
    I was recently asked to be interviewed by my longtime friend WavenDean Fernandes for a series of conversations with energy practitioners, and this episode is the result--a warm, free-form conversation about intuition, mediumship, and spirituality.I spent my career as an Air Force intelligence officer--the kind of background where you don't exactly bring up psychic readings at work. But underneath the logic and top-secret clearance, I'd always had a gift for reading people, one I kept quietly tucked away until a retreat about two years ago changed everything.In this conversation, I open up about the unlikely path that took me from military intelligence to full-time intuitive and psychic medium--and why I now see that background not as a contradiction, but as the perfect training ground for this work. WavenDean and I talk through how information actually comes through to me (it starts as a scene, like a movie in soft focus), the difference between spirit guides and deceased loved ones, and two client stories that still give me chills: a woman I guided back to painting who now sells her art in a gallery, and a woman I saw in a past-life as a scholar--which explained her lifelong pull toward deep conversation over small talk.We also get into the harder stuff--how I framed my own experience with cancer not as something I "had" but as something I was "experiencing," and why that distinction mattered so much to me. And we close with a genuinely mind-bending detour into past lives, parallel lives, and whether time is as linear as we think it is.If you've ever felt a pull toward something you couldn't quite explain, this one's for you.HighlightsFrom intelligence officer to intuitive. I spent my career in Air Force intelligence, then moved through politics and corporate wellness before a coach nudged me to lean into the intuitive readings I'd kept private--worried they'd clash with my security-clearance background.The retreat that changed everything. About two years ago, I gave readings to ten women at a self-discovery retreat. Their reactions--shock at my accuracy despite my knowing nothing about their backgrounds--became the encouragement I needed to pursue this work fully.How the readings work. I describe my process as multi-sensory: it starts as a visual scene (like watching a soft-focus movie), followed by impressions, sensations, and sometimes words. I'm always clear with clients that I don't want them feeding me information--it should feel like a natural conversation.Guides vs. deceased loved ones. A key distinction I draw: recently deceased relatives and ancestors tend to show up offering emotional support and reassurance ("we're here, we love you"), while higher-level guidance about life path and direction tends to come through spirit guides and the angelic realm.Real client stories. Two standouts I still think about: a woman facing a layoff who I guided back to painting, who now sells her art in a Kansas City gallery, and a woman I saw in a past life as a respected scholar--which explained her lifelong aversion to small talk and pull toward deep, philosophical conversations.Reframing hardship. I share my own experience with cancer and how I consciously chose language like "having a cancer experience" rather than "having cancer"--treating hardship as something temporary to move through and learn from, not something to own.The past lives/parallel lives conversation. Toward the end, I explain that "past lives" is really just a linear-brain way of understanding what may actually be simultaneous, parallel lifetimes--and I describe experimenting with intentionally "shifting" into a desired version of myself (including playing the best round of golf of my life after doing so).Where to find me. I offer private readings and a six-week "Applied Intuition" mentorship (built around a behavioral assessment tailored to each person's unique way of receiving information) via KathleenDavenport.com, along with my podcast and social channels.

    In this episode of Finding Focus, I sit down with intuitive reader, medium, and spiritual mentor Aisha Muhammad for a heartfelt, wide-ranging conversation about intuition, mediumship, healing, and discovering who we truly are.Aisha opens up about growing up in a deeply spiritual household, the childhood seance that first revealed her gift, and the years she spent afraid of what she could sense and see. She shares how she learned--with her mother's guidance--to set boundaries with spirits, trust her own way of receiving information, and stop comparing her gifts to other readers.We talk about what actually happens during an intuitive reading, why it's never about a fixed fate, and how every one of us has the power to choose a different path at any moment. The conversation moves beyond psychic phenomena into something much more universal: healing generational trauma, learning what truly resonates with your soul, navigating spirituality and religion on your own terms, and remembering that age is just a number when it comes to living the life you actually want.Whether you're deeply spiritual, simply curious about intuition, or wondering what's next for your own life, this conversation offers honesty, warmth, and plenty of moments that may shift the way you see yourself and the world around you.Episode HighlightsAisha shares the story of the childhood seance that first revealed her gift--and how frightened she was when it happened.How she learned, as a young woman, to set boundaries with spirits who were showing up at all hours.The difference between connecting with loved ones in spirit, spirit guides, and your own intuitive knowing.Why intuitive readings aren't about fate--they're about seeing your current path clearly, knowing you can always choose differently.How intuitive information arrives differently for everyone--through thoughts, images, emotions, physical sensations, and even smells.Why comparing your gifts to another reader's only gets in the way, and the moment Aisha stopped trying to read like anyone else.A candid discussion about generational trauma, breaking old patterns, and why the lessons we avoid keep resurfacing until we face them.Why discovering what truly resonates with your soul--and letting go of what doesn't--is one of the most important parts of personal growth.An honest conversation about spirituality, religion, and learning to trust your own inner guidance over what you're told to believe.Exploring spirit guides, soul contracts, and the idea that we choose the lives we're living for our own growth and evolution.Why age doesn't define purpose, and how it's never too late to discover who you really are and start living in alignment with yourself.Aisha Muhammad is an intuitive reader, medium, and spiritual mentor with more than two decades of experience helping individuals gain clarity, navigate life's challenges, and reconnect with their inner truth. • 4. I Think I'm Intuitive...So Why Can't I Access It?

    11:45||Season 2026, Ep. 4
    So many people believe they can’t access their intuition… because they can’t meditate.But what if that’s not the problem?In this episode, I break down one of the biggest misconceptions around intuition and higher guidance—and why forcing yourself into traditional meditation practices may actually be getting in the way.The truth is, most people are already intuitive.They’re already receiving information.They just don’t recognize it… or don’t trust what they’re getting.We’ll explore:Why meditation isn’t the only (or best) way to access intuitionHow intuitive guidance actually shows up in everyday momentsThe real reason people doubt or dismiss what they receiveHow your natural way of thinking and processing affects how intuition comes throughWhy intuition and logic aren’t opposites—and how they work togetherI also share insights from my own experience transitioning from a highly analytical military background to understanding how intuitive processing was always part of how I operated—I just didn’t have the language for it.If you’ve ever thought, “I think I’m intuitive… but I don’t trust it,” his episode will help you see what’s really going on—and what’s been missing.If you’re ready to go deeper, I’ve created a private mentorship called Applied Intuition: Developing Your Intuitive Intelligence where I help you learn how to access, trust, and apply your intuitive intelligence in real life and real decisions.You can learn more at:kathleendavenport.com
