  • 26. Episode 26: Cam Steele

    55:53||Season 1, Ep. 26
    Cam Steele of the Faith N' Fish'N Podcast joins me to discuss the devotion he wrote for me which was read in episode 25, "Who Are You?" I had Cam, and his co-host Robert, on a few months ago, and I asked them if they'd be willing to write a devotion to share as part of the Think About It segment. Cam was first to the punch and emailed me his devotion a few weeks ago. Shortly after receiving it, Cam asked if he could come on to discuss what people should do next once they determine which role they are currently filling in life. We also took a few minutes to discuss Cam's suggestion in the segment I've added since he was first on the show, Drop in the Bucket.
  • 24. Alpha Camp and Smokey's 80th Birthday Party

    44:47||Season 1, Ep. 24
    On this episode, I focus on Alpha Camp at Camp McCall in Sunset, SC and Smokey Bear's 80th Birthday Party which was held at Anna Ruby Falls outside Helen, GA. The episode is more of a review of both with not a lot of background on either Camp McCall itself, or the Anna Ruby Falls site. For more on Anna Ruby Falls check out their website below. Camp McCall will be the focus of a future episode later this autumn when I have the director and assistant director on the show as guests.This was the first year I've ever attended an Alpha Camp with my boys, but I personally enjoyed it better than the Lads and Dads camp I've taken them to the last two years. Once I've hit the highlights of Alpha camp I mention my recent experience with the North Carolina Heritage Trout Waters Program as a consideration to add to your bucket list during the Drop in the Bucket segment.I wrap up the show with a short review of Smokey Bear's 80th Birthday Party at Anna Ruby Falls and ask two of my kids what their favorite and least favorite things about both Alpha Camp as well as the birthday party were.Episode links:www.filledquiveroutdoors.comhttps://gofindoutdoors.org/sites/anna-ruby-falls/https://gofindoutdoors.org/events/camping-in-the-old-style/
  • 23. Think About It: The Perfect Gift

    04:07||Season 1, Ep. 23
    On this episode of Think About It, I have the pleasure of sharing with you the enclosure Wade Blevins includes with Sam's One Bugs. If you've never received a gift of Sam's One Bugs and are curious from our conversation in episode 22 of the podcast what exactly Wade includes that makes this a ministry, this is it.And if you haven't accepted The Perfect Gift yet, I encourage you to reach out to someone about how to. If you don't know anyone personally to reach out to about how to receive this gift, feel free to reach out to Wade or myself as either of us would be glad to talk to you and celebrate with you on your acceptance of the gift offered to you free of charge.
  • 22. Episode 22: Wade Blevins and the Sam's One Bug

    01:33:46||Season 1, Ep. 22
    Join me as I pick Wade Blevin's brain about the Sam's One Bug, his faith, and his other outdoor hobby you'll probably never guess.Wade's father, Sam, came up with the One Bug in the mid-80's and since then has become an extremely popular fly to tie and use. I learned about the fly, which in turn led me to link up with Wade, through the Redeye Bartram's Bass Workshop I attended in 2023 (you can hear my review of the workshop in episode 2).Since inheriting the fly and heritage of giving away the Sam's One Bugs, Wade has given away over fifteen thousand of these flies. Wade has put his own touch to the tradition by including the story of the Perfect Gift with each gifting of flies meaning he has shared the gospel with hundreds, if not thousands, of people.In the conversation I ask Wade about any tips or special tools which are out there to help folks interested in tying the Sam's One Bug. If you want to hear additional stories from Wade's experiences of tying and gifting the Sam's One Bug beyond what we had time to talk about in this episode, you can hear some of those in the episodes of The Storied Outdoors and Dad's on the Fly in which he was the guest.If you want to support Wade's efforts of gifting the Sam's One Bug, you can find him on Instagram at @samsonebug or email him at samsonebug@gmail.com to find out the best way to support him whether that be financially or prayer.Show Links:https://www.youtube.com/@Samsonebughttps://www.dadsonthefly.com/55-interview-with-wade-blevins-and-the-story-of-the-sams-one-bug-growing-up-in-a-fly-fishing-family-warm-water-fly-fishing-creating-one-of-the-most-versatile-flies-the-sams-one-bug/
  • 21. Think About It: Are You Letting God Handle God's Business in God's Time?

    06:25||Season 1, Ep. 21
    Are you letting God handle God's business in His timing, or are you listening to and being influenced by wickedness coming from wicked people and trying to take matters into your own hand based on your timing?This is not the devotion I intended to release, but with the unfortunate events which occurred yesterday, I felt led to share these thoughts in regard to 1 Samuel 24:7,13. Take some time to read the entirety of the chapter to gain a fuller understanding of the context of these verses.
