Angler’s Aim Game: Tips for Organizing a Casting Contest

Season 1, Ep. 20

This episode dives into organizing and putting on a casting contest. This isn’t a casting contest for models or movies, but for anglers to see who has the most skill when it comes to throwing fishing lures and bait.

Join me as I give you some considerations for putting on your own event as a fun competition for your group or as an outreach event for your church. I’ll discuss some of the things we did at my church’s first casting contest earlier this year, what materials were needed to put it on, and things I learned in hindsight to make future casting contests better, safer, and run more efficiently.

If you normally don't watch our episodes on YouTube, you may want to watch this episode there as I show you what we used in our contest. I'm also working on putting together a free downloadable PDF for I'll be posting later this summer at filledquiveroutdoors.com to help you in organizing your own casting contest with sample course layouts, materials lists, scorecards, etc.

Be sure you're following us on YouTube as well as I'll be starting to drop video reviews this week beginning with a review of the Backyard Bass and Backyard Bass Plug

I also wrap up the episode with the new segment, drops in the bucket, where I provide things for you to consider adding to you outdoor bucket list.

If you interested in participating in the York Cherokee Kayak Classic bass tournament on July 20th I mentioned in On My Radar, call the Kings Mountain State Park office at for more info or to register at 803-222-3209.

  • 203. Episode 29 (203): A Christian Approach to Elections

    56:51||Season 2, Ep. 203
    In this week’s episode I’m going to splitting the time between two topics with a Drop in the Bucket for experienced and aspiring upland bird hunters. For the first half of the episode I’ll be covering the topics and, in a lesser degree, the format of the show moving forward since the reboot after a break near the end of season one and now being a couple of episodes into season 2. After A Drop in the Bucket segment, I’ll focus on the meaty part of the episode, politics and the upcoming election. I won’t be endorsing anyone necessarily, but instead I’ll highlight two measures being voted on in different parts of the country before moving into what Christians should be doing when it comes to deciding how they vote on different measures and who they vote for to fill different positions. Instead of spending a lot of time on what the Bible says about the hot-button topics of today’s political world, I decided for this episode to just highlight some of these and put more of an emphasis on what Christians should be doing after the results are announced.  Now that you know what path we’re taking on this episode, let’s hit the trail!

    This episode of Think About It is not the typical devotion. Instead it is the presentation I gave about Camp McCall in my church as we prepared to take up a love offering to support the camp after damages incurred by Hurricane Helene. There are pictures which correspond to the presentation which I would encourage you watch here: https://youtu.be/t5Pf943RHgEIf you'd like to support the Camp financially, you can go to their homepage and follow the donation link at https://www.scbaptist.org/campmccall/
