SOBER SO GOOD

Season 2023, Ep. 1

In this episode, we’ll be touching upon different subjects regarding sobriety as an artist or active player in the music industry. Sobriety here, as you’ll learn, is not about being against the use of substances. This talk dives deeper into an alternative to the modus operandi of the industry.

We invited DJ Louis Vogue, Focking Sober collective’s Victoria & Ethelle, and The Unicorn Mothership’s Eline to sit down with music journalist Lisa Blanning.

We talk about the glamorization of alcohol and drugs, and how to party – sober. You’ll find out more about our panellists' relationship with sobriety and their methods for dealing with non-sober environments.

Prepare yourself for an hour filled to the brim with insights and knowledge about sober life in the music industry and society as a whole.

Who knows, maybe you’ll discover that being sober shouldn’t be so strange after all?

In this episode, activist Hamja Ahsan joined us remotely from Barcelona to discuss his book Shy Radicals. In his book, Hamja talks about being introverted in an ‘Extrovert-Supremacist’ world. We wanted to explore his insights within the world of music specifically. We invited artists Shaka Shams and AMINA808, alongside music programmer Astrid De Sterck, to sit down with music journalist Lisa Blanning and Hamja. We talk about how the music industry, in particular, is a place where extroverted people are often the most celebrated artists, and outgoing individuals benefit the most from standard networking practices. What is it like for introverted artists to throw their shyness overboard when going on stage – do they even have to? How can we make networking feel like play for introverts? Join us for an hour of interesting insights. Don’t be shy – or actually, be shy, you radical!
