Sabine and Sebastiaan, known as Puffin on Tour, are a Dutch couple who left their regular jobs in law and shipping for a life of adventure and travel, seeking more freedom and connection to nature. Their journey began with local camping trips and evolved into extended road trips across Europe, including memorable travels through Scandinavia, the UK, and Italy. Influenced by other travelers and motivated by curiosity, they embarked on a honeymoon overland trip through Morocco, intending to explore global cultures and possibly find a quieter place to live outside the crowded Netherlands.
Key skills they bring to their travels include Sebastiaan’s mechanical experience from maritime work and car ownership, and Sabine’s DIY projects and wildlife tracking. Essential items for their journey include a water filtration system, phone for community connections, binoculars, wildlife books, and an off-grid wash bag. Their vehicle—a modified Land Rover Defender called “Puffin”—is specially equipped with a rooftop tent and practical storage systems for extended travel comfort.
Throughout their adventures, Sabine and Sebastiaan emphasize the importance of curiosity, embracing diverse cultures, and open-minded engagement with locals, despite occasional challenges like language barriers and adjusting to cultural norms. Their advice to others is to start with small adventures, use available resources, and be open to unexpected, meaningful moments that arise from connecting with people around the world.
